Jurgen Klopp admits Liverpool cannot rely on previous Champions League qualification heroics in their battle for the top four - but is convinced his team are ideally suited for a repeat as they enter a "super important week".
The Reds can move within six points of fourth-place Tottenham Hotspur with a game in hand when they entertain Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Wednesday night, before welcoming bitter North West rivals Manchester United on Sunday.
Liverpool were last involved in a scrap to finish in the top four two years ago, when they won eight of their last 10 games to seal an unlikely third place having previously dropped to eighth.

And while many of the players from that campaign remain at the club, Klopp believes experience alone won't be sufficient as the Reds aim for a seventh successive qualification for the Champions League during his tenure.
"It helps because it was us," said the Liverpool boss of 2020/21 comparisons. "We don't have to tell them a story of another club or team. We have a lot of stories to tell where it went well in the last few years with long winning streaks and going unbeaten at home and so on.
"History is not allowed to hinder you, but you can't constantly rely on the fact we did it before so we can do it again. We have to make sure.
"I wouldn't tell you if we weren't in the right mindset but I really see we have the right mindset. We are ready to go. But now we have to really do it as well. The game is different. We have to create, attack, defend, protect, do a lot of things and I know the boys can do that. Let's give it a try."
Klopp added on Tuesday: "It's a super important week. We cannot ignore that. We have two home games. I would love to give the season a little push in this week and we need result for that and to get results we need good performances. Nothing I saw since the last game in training gave me the impression we don't have a chance. The few sessions we had looked good.
"We all understand we have to give it a proper, proper, proper go in this game tomorrow night. We have to make sure we are ready. I know Anfield will be and we have to do our part."
Wednesday will be the fourth time Liverpool have faced Wolves in less than two months, having progressed in the FA Cup third round after a replay before being thumped 3-0 at Molineux in the Premier League.
And of the last meeting, Klopp said: "We want to put it right but I'm more focused on giving the season a proper push. That would be really cool. It's not always about putting things right, but emotionally as well. It has been up and down and up and down. We need to find a steady mood, mixed up with greed, passion, desire, all these kind of things. We have to be clear, and we are, but we have to show that on the pitch.
"We have to force it as well but we have to play, enjoy what we are doing – that's really important. I really think we are ready. If there is a club that can do it I really think it is us. Honestly. Because all the things we achieved these last years we achieved together, neither without the team nor without the crowd. Nothing."
