I rate whether McDonalds, KFC and Greggs have the best chicken nuggets

Chicken nuggets are something many of us know and love, I am one of those people.

When I was younger, there was no better Happy Meal than one with nuggets and curry sauce, so when it came time to find the very best nugget I was thrilled.

I had doubts that anything could compete with the classic from McDonalds, but it was definitely worth having a search.

Maybe I'd be surprised like I was with Taco Bell's chicken strip (which I honestly think about quite often), I was open to it.

So I set off to try to find the best on the market.

McDonald's McNugget

McDonald's nugget is a classic and rightfully so (Emily Sands)

It comes with two sauces, which I think is a game changer. It was the only nugget to come with a sauce and it definitely added to the experience.

They're good, they're what you think of when you want a chicken nugget and rightly so.

I really enjoyed this one, it was nostalgic and hit the spot without having an offensive flavour.

Rating: 4/5

Burger King

I know that they do nuggets, but when I tried to get some for this review they were not accepting payment.

As a result they are not included and will be unable to rank.

KFC's Popcorn Chicken

KFC comes through with flavour but it was a little dry (Emily Sands)

They don't have a classic nugget, with the equivalent being the popcorn chicken.

It was a little dry which meant I was leaning for my drink quite often, but in terms of flavour it was still quite tasty.

It does the trick but I still found myself reaching for McDonald's.

Subway's Nacho Chicken Bites

These are possibly the worst things I've ever tasted (Emily Sands)

Well, if you've seen the video you will know I had quite strong feelings on this one.

The main one being that I was horrified that I'd actually tasted it at all.

To look at it was unappealing and as you can see in the video above, I struggled to get my teeth through it as it was that tough.

It was just overall a bad experience and I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone, I don't think they should even be on the menu as I struggle to believe that anyone could enjoy them.

Greggs' Southern Fried Chicken Bites

These tasted like bacon for some reason (Emily Sands)

I was somewhat surprised to see that Greggs have any sort of nugget option, with them being better known for their pasties (some of which I've had very strong opinions on).

But I decided to give it a shot, and honestly, it was really strange.

I don't know if it was because it was near a bacon sandwich in the heater, but it tasted a lot like bacon.

If you're a fan of bacon then maybe this would be enjoyable for you, I personally wouldn't identify as a big fan of bacon so I found this offputting.

When I bite into chicken, I expect it to taste like chicken.

Rating: 2.5/5

Quorn Crispy Nuggets

It's something a lot of us have heard, Quorn's vegetarian (not to be confused with their vegan) nugget are a total dupe for McDonalds.

They do contain milk so I was unable to try, but Emily swore that they were by far the closest to McDonalds and still enjoyable.

We put them in the oven, but if you want to deep fry them in oil they would likely take on that classic texture.

This was one of the best value for money, although you do have to cook it at home.

Rating: 4/5

Overall McDonald's was the number one for chicken nuggets, but I don't think that's a massive surprise.

I would avoid Subway's at all costs.
