'I paid £2 for Beanie Baby at Goodwill and sold it for £176 - keep your eye out'

A savvy shopper is celebrating a £174 profit after reselling a £2 stuffed toy she picked up at Goodwill. Tiktok user Mary, from Nashville, Tennessee, is urging shoppers to rummage through their local charity shops after snagging the "overlooked" collectable.

In a video uploaded to the platform, she said: "I just left Goodwill. I was there less than 10 minutes. It took me longer to check out than it did to walk around the store. You're not going to believe what I found. It's late on a Saturday, like 4.30pm, so it has been picked over all day long."

After looking around the shoes and clothing, she walked over to the toy section to see whether there were any hidden gems waiting for her on the shelves. To her delight, she spotted a vintage Beanie Baby priced up at $2.99 (about £2).

"This one little cat was sitting on his little tummy," she added. "But I could tell by looking at it, the fur is old.

"I picked it up and then I saw that [Beanie Baby logo]. I thought, 'Oh, it's an old Beanie Baby'. So I flipped [the tag] over and it says 1992."

After paying for the item, she checked how much they were selling for online before listing it for $225 (about £176) on eBay.

She said: "I know this has been there all day, it's not like they have just replenished the stuffed animals. People had looked it over.

"You can make money as a reseller. You just have to get out there and look - and don't pass up the stuffed animals.

"You can make a lot, a lot, a lot of money on stuffed animals at yard sales and estate sales.

"Get out there and do it because there's people out there selling things like this for £1 and 50p every day."

Commenting on her video, one user said: "OMG! I just got this at a yard sale for my dog. He ate the eyes and nose."

Another user added: "My mother sold my entire full set of Starwars 70s trading cards that I collected for years for a quarter at a yard sale. I was devastated."

A third user said: "I have lots of them from my kids... Not selling them."

One more user added: "My daughter has one from when she was a child."
