Jamie Carragher, Billy Liddell and Brian Labone can all proudly lay claim to being one club men.
It's probably an ill advised decision to start a first person piece by seemingly likening myself to three of Merseyside's most legendary footballing figures. The comparison is even more perverse given my increasingly dodgy left knee and the fact I decided to hang up my boots just one year into the move to 11 a side when I was only 12.
However, the reason why I ignore these valid reasons is to illustrate how there's value in staying in a place that suits you and somewhere you can call home. It's also my way of justifying why it was only last year I decided to move out of my mum's house at the grand old age of 28.

In my defence, I would also like to point out other, I think, justifiable excuses for my prolonged stay in the family nest, which include the sudden gross trebling of university tuition fees, a ridiculous housing market and the small matter of a global pandemic. However, I don't want to complain too much as I was always happy to call my mum's semi detached in Walton home.
Walton is a buzzing community with a fiercely proud local identity that I truly felt part of. As a Liverpool FC season ticket holder, I felt lucky I lived so close to Anfield stadium, a place where I have experienced some of the most magical moments of my life.
I also enjoyed how I lived so close to Goodison Park and always got a buzz from being able to hear the roar from the terraces from my front room during a matchday. The area is defined by its proximity to the two football clubs and they are the lifeblood of Walton's many fine establishments.
The region is also sharply on the rise as it has recently attracted a number of exciting food and drink venues such as craft beer pub, Jaxons, and Venezuelan street food restaurant, Noso. All this nostalgia and reminiscing about the area once again begs the question of why I ever did decide to leave?
However, the necessary decision was taken last year when it was time to move in with my girlfriend, who had fallen for the charm of South Liverpool's charity shops and many green spaces. The dreaded compromise was reached when we both found a home we loved in Dingle and I knew the time had come to finally flee the nest.
For someone who has lived in Liverpool their whole life, my geography of the south of the city continues to be admirably terrible as I'm still trying to get my head around how I now live close to Sefton Park. However, I was excited to make the move and finally get a better understanding of what has always been on my own doorstep.
My mum grew up in Dingle and I was looking forward to experiencing the community spirit she so often reminisces over from her childhood in the now demolished Caryl Gardens. I wanted to get a feel for the area myself and my partner and I did this in the only sensible way we knew how - by embarking on a Dingle pub crawl.
Our odyssey through the local establishments took us through watering holes named The Anglesea, Bleak House and Herculaneum Bridge, also known as Peglegs. I immediately felt comfortable in my new surroundings when we were greeted in the nautical treasure trove of Peglegs by a joyous atmosphere as the pub's regulars took part in an impromptu singalong to Queen.
The sense of community was alive in each venue as we were given a tour around the Bleak House during our visit there and were informed about the pub's rich history. My mum has often credited her love of soul and Motown music to growing up in Dingle and being exposed to the amazing diverse influences of L8 as a child.
The final stop on our tour was at The Anglesea, which proved to me that Dingle does indeed dance to the beat of soul as the landlord and his friend worked together to compile the most fantastic playlist of well known bangers and unknown gems.
The strong community spirit I experienced during a night out in the area made me content with my decision as it hammered home what I always knew that Liverpool was full of amazing neighbourhoods that boast their own unique personalities.
My roots will always be in Walton, but Dingle is now where I am happy to call home.
