Nutribullet vs Ninja: which blender should you buy in the Black Friday sales?
If you're on the hunt for a new blender this Black Friday but are unsure of which brand to go for, then don't worry, we have some advice! When our kitchen appliances expert, Lydia, looked into Nutribullet vs Ninja, she concluded that for ultra-smooth, single-serve smoothies, then you're better off choosing a NutriBullet model. There’s an old adage that mattresses are always on sale. Last year, I investigated if mattress sales are real and found that some sites are facing lawsuits for false advertising. It’s a practice known as ‘price anchoring’. Say a mattress is listed for $1,500, and it’s discounted in the mattress sales to $900. If that discount only runs for a few weeks before the mattress returns to full price, then there is an incentive to buy sooner rather than later. If, instead, the mattress stays at $900 or less all year round, and never returns to its anchor price, then you aren’t getting a good deal: you’re buying an inferior mattress for what it’s really worth.
When you’re exploring mattress sales, it pays to download a price tracker: for example, Camelcamelcamel works on Amazon. A price tracking tool shows you the price history of a product, so you can get a better sense of how sales ebb and flow throughout the year. Amazon is one of the best places to buy a mattress over Black Friday. Right now, the Nectar Memory Foam Mattress is listed for $649 for a Queen on the Nectar site, but just $551.65 at Amazon – now that's a good deal!

If you're hunting for new bedding this Black Friday, for the sheer range of products and depth of discount, Amazon is one of the best places to buy affordable bedding but the site itself isn’t especially user-friendly. Type ‘bed sheets’ or ‘pillow’ into the search bar and you’ll be shown second-rate, plasticky pieces from unfamiliar stores, often with low star ratings from a mere handful of customer reviews.
So, here’s my advice for shopping the bedding sales: make a shortlist of brands to shop before you start scrolling. It’s the best way to keep on task, so you aren’t distracted by dud deals. I recommend Casaluna at Target and RE/FINE at Wayfair. Once you see something you like, scour the specifications to learn more about the material makeup of the product. For example, cotton percale sheets feel crisp and cool, while cotton sateen sheets feel smooth and silky. As a general rule, you should steer clear of polyester: it’s the worst bed sheet material for hot sleepers.
