'I'm obsessed with baby names and wish parents would stop ruining spellings'

A baby name fanatic has spoken out about her pet peeves when parents chose a moniker for their child - saying that she doesn't like it when they use unusual spellings.

TikTok star Amber, also known as the Name Fairy, regularly shares videos about her favourite baby names online but now she's dished the dirt on what she doesn't like.

She said it grates on her when parents use 'unique' spellings for their children, such as Jaxsyn for Jackson, or Paizleigh for Paisley.

Amber said that to her, the spellings were "nonsensical", and she urged any parents watching her videos to reconsider before giving their child such a name.

Taking to TikTok, Amber, who uploads as @thenamefairy, said: "'Unique' name spellings can get outta hand real quick, in my opinion.

"The number of 'interesting ' ways to spell the name Jackson - i.e. Jaxon, Jacksyn, Jaxsyn, Jaxyn."

In another video, she gave other examples of names with unorthodox spellings - including Taedum for Tatum, and Paizleigh for Paisley.

Soon she was inundated with comments from people who backed her up, saying they too were annoyed by strange spellings.

And another wrote: "When will people realize the x in makes a ks sound. You don’t need the s after."

"I love unusual and uncommon names," commented a third person. "But hate when names are spelt differently just for the sake of being 'unique'."

A fourth user added: "Paizleigh? I pray that has never actually been used."
