I'm Celebrity... Many viewers say same thing after Matt Hancock opens up about dyslexia

Matt Hancock has finally opened up about his dyslexia with his fellow campmates as they discussed their achievements in life on I’m A Celebrity. And many viewers have been saying the same thing about his discussion of the condition.

Chatting to comedians Babatunde Aleshe and Seann Walsh about their experiences at school, the MP said: “I desperately wanted to learn. One side on maths I could, and on English I couldn’t.”

Walsh asked: “Are you talking about reading specifically?”

The former health secretary replied: “Yeah. And then the moment I was identified as dyslexic at university it was ‘Ahh so actually I am okay with language, it’s just my brain works differently and I can work on that’.”

Ahead of entering the jungle, Mr Hancock said he wanted to use the “incredible platform” to raise awareness of dyslexia and insisted it “wasn’t the cheque” that made him decide to join the show.

However, many fans have pointed out it's taken two weeks for him to mention dyslexia. @ashzo_ said: "Matt has finally brought up his dyslexia for the first time. Only took 2 weeks for him to talk about the thing he said he wanted to bring awareness to while in there."

Tim Galsworthy tweeted: "So Matt Hancock, who went into #ImACeleb to raise awareness about dyslexia, has taken over two weeks to mention his dyslexia."

Melissa Murphy said: "First time I’ve heard Matt mention Dyslexia which is funny since it was apparently the cause he wanted to raise awareness for."

However, all may not be as it seems. Katri Maria suggested the MP may have discussed dyslexia, but the these discussions hadn't made it on air. They tweeted: "We have no knowledge of the material that hasn't made the edit. It is quite possible that he's talked about it. Luckily the tweeters have been busy complaining and thus giving it publicity."

And it seems ITV have been asked if the MP has had discussions about dyslexia that have not been screened. Daily Mirror Showbiz Editor Mark Jefferies Tweeted: "It's around 10 days into the show and Matt Hancock has just mentioned dyslexia for the first time, regarding his own challenges at school. Still no mention of the Dyslexia Screening and Teacher Training Bill which he insisted was one of the main reasons for doing show.

"I should clarify - 10 days into the show for Hancock as he was a late entry. He said: "I want to raise the profile of my dyslexia campaign to help every dyslexic child unleash their potential — even if it means taking an unusual route to get there . . . via I’m A Celebrity."

"When I asked ITV last week about this issue they said in a statement: "It is not possible to show everything that happens in camp due to time constraints...It is always our intention to produce a show that is a fair and accurate representation of life in camp."

And @MusicallySleepy said: "Everyone saying how its the first time Matt has talked about his dyslexia blah blah blah, I also have dyslexia, I don't talk about it 24/7"
