'I’m biased' - Steven Gerrard gives blunt verdict on Liverpool second leg at Real Madrid

Steven Gerrard believes Liverpool have a “big mountain to climb” to overcome Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Liverpool will travel to Madrid to face the Spanish outfit at the Santiago Bernabeu on March 15. Gerrard believes that his former club face a tall order to progress to the quarter-final.

Gerrard was working as a pundit for BT Sport on Tuesday night alongside Michael Owen and Rio Ferdinand. The Liverpool legend thinks the Reds will find it very difficult to overcome the three-goal margin against Madrid.

“I know I’m more optimistic than most when it comes down to Liverpool - I’m biased as well, but it’s Real Madrid

“You’re talking about these individual players and I can’t not see Real Madrid scoring a couple of goals because Liverpool are gonna have to be so aggressive away from home.

“With the quality they’ve got on the break - Vinicius, Benzema, Modric bursting from midfield - players returning from injury.”
