I’m a pet writer and these are my favorite cat products I’ve tested in 2024

Chilli finding treats from the Nina Ottosson by Outward Hound Buggin' Out Puzzle & Play Cat Toy.

As 2024 comes to a close, it’s the perfect time to round up the best cat products I’ve tested this year. As a pet writer and lifelong cat mom, I’ve tried my fair share of products and have had the opportunity to speak with experts about what to look out for.

Whether you're bringing home a new kitten soon or just want to treat your cat, these products should be high on your wishlist. The end of the year can be super-expensive, and with the cost of living at an all-time high, I’ve been very selective – featuring only the best of the best that are truly worth your money.

It was really challenging to narrow it down, but five products reigned supreme, and my cats turn to them time and time again. From hammocks and bowls to toys and treats, here are my favorite products that I highly recommend:

1. Zakkart Window Cat Hammock

This is the best thing I've ever given my cat – let alone just this year. My family has a joke about how Nala is constantly in this hammock; if you can't find her, she's guaranteed to be in it. The plush fabric is soft and fleecy, making it perfect for my cats to snuggle into, and the foldable design makes it easy to store when it's not in use. It was super-simple to put together and the shape is perfect for smaller spaces. It suckers onto any window or glass surface and you can put the bed in the washing machine when it needs cleaning. It has so many great features, which is why I added it to our guide on the best cat hammocks. I'm not surprised it has a five-star review on Amazon.

2. Nina Ottosson Buggin' Out Puzzle

Some pet puzzles are ridiculously hard, but the Buggin' Out Puzzle is great for cats of all abilities. There are eight different compartments that you can hide your cat's food in, and they have to push the pegs and twist the leaves to reveal it.

Since Chilli and Nala have different capabilities, I like how you can adjust the difficulty so they can both have fun with it. The material feels sturdy and high-quality, plus it's free from BPA, PVC and phthalate, making it safe to eat from. After extensive testing, I voted this as one of the best cat toys.

3. Catstages Kitty Lickin' Layers Puzzle Cat Feeder

There are lots of reasons why I love this Catstages puzzle feeder, from the way it slows down my cat's eating to the high-quality, durable design. I like to fill it up with the best cat food for senior cats to give Chilli and Nala a bit of a mental workout – they have to lick it out of the holes or spin the compartments. If your cat is bored or eats too quickly, this is a brilliant solution and costs under just $12. It's made from food-safe materials that are free from BPA, PVC, and phthalates. In my opinion, it's one of the best cat puzzle feeders on the market.

4. Lily's Kitchen Treats with Salmon for Cats

Like most cats, Chilli and Nala can get behind any of the best cat treats, but these go further than just great taste. They're the perfect bite-sized shape for training and come in a resealable bag that's easy to store away. As for the ingredients, these treats contain salmon oil which is a brilliant source of omega-3 and promotes a healthy heart. They're crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle, and are made using real meat, offal and fish for better flavor.

5. MS!MAKESURE Rolls Pet Bowl

This is the best anti-vomit cat bowl I've tested and has massively improved Chilli's eating posture, thanks to the raised design. Not only is it a great height, but it also has a clever dual-bowl design that catches spills at the bottom (perfect for my messy cats!) The pastel pink design is right up my street and looks fab in my kitchen, but it also comes in green and blue if that's more your style. The bowl is easy to clean and can be put in the dishwasher after use which I was very happy about.
