'I'm a 'hatfish' - people mock my hairline but hair transplant gave me confidence'

A man who was mocked for his 'bad' hairline has hit back at trolls who still post nasty comments online.

Steven Dermott from the Wirral, recently posted a video to TikTok where he addressed one of the comments which read "You should see him without that hat. Not so gorgeous".

Laughingly, he replied: "I'm not going to lie, without a hat, this comment is 100% correct. Without a hat, I look awful.

"There is no doubt, I am a 'hatfish', there's no denying it okay."

In the world of dating, a 'hatfish' is someone who hides their baldness under a hat in photos on dating websites.

Steven went on to explain that over a year ago he flew to Turkey to get a hair transplant to "fix the issues" that "narrow-minded people" like the commenter are "picking up on".

He then took his hat off to show his head, and hit back at the trolls and said it was time to "start being nice to people".

Steven said the hair transplant, which he got last year at Now Hair Time in Turkey, is the "best thing" he's "ever done".

The video, posted to his @lord_dermott account on the video sharing platform, quickly went viral, and has been seen by over 2.4million people.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Steven explained: "I was never receding or going bald, I just always had a bad hairline, I always noticed it my self but a lot of people felt they needed to point this out to me in TikToks [and online]."

The dad-of-two says he's "got used to the trolls and hateful comments", and added: "They don't bother me anymore, or I should say, anything like they used too."

He travelled to Turkey to get his hair transplant, which is a procedure where follicles are taken from one part of the body, to another.

Steven couldn't be happier about his new hairline.

He told us: "I love my new hairline now. I would tell any person male or female who was insecure about their hairline to go and get this treatment done."

After posting the video online, the content creator received lots of messages of support from his followers.

One person commented: "I love your hair. It's very pretty. You should go hatless more often."

Another added: "You look great with or without a hat! Don't listen to the haters sweetheart!"

A third agreed, saying: "Omg your are gorgeous with and wit out your hat."
