When looking for Boxing Day sale fashion buys, it's important to take a targeted approach. Yes you'll find bargain buys all over the virtual high street, but think about the longevity of your investment to really get the best sale wins.
As fashion editors, Rivkie and myself are Boxing Day sales experts, and know all too well that this is the best time of year to work on building your capsule wardrobe. Before you add anything to your basket, make a list of what you're looking to gain from the sales and stick to it. This can include some more trend-led buys, but as you'll see from my own shopping list, I prefer to spend a bit more on items that will last years, not just a season or two.
From the best designer bags, to the best white trainers, I'll be embracing neutral colours that never go out of style, plus simple silhouettes, classic knitwear and core separates that I know I'll wear regardless of what the runway is saying. I've rounded up everything on my Boxing Day shopping list to give you some inspiration.

With 40% off, this classic black cashmere turtleneck is an excellent investment. Reformation is my favourite brand for the best cashmere jumpers, and I'm going to wear this with silky satin skirts and jeans.
This coat really is a keeper. For under £200, it will stay in your winter capsule wardrobe for years to come. One reviewer wrote: "The most beautiful, well-constructed and complimented coat I have ever owned. Love it, love it!"
Wondering what to wear on New Year's Eve? This little Rixo number has been my party season secret weapon this year. Wear it with patterned tights, ankle boots and a festive bow in your hair.
These are a favourite of the Princess of Wales, who has been spotted on several occasions rocking the Superga 2750 Cotu Classic. Currently retailing for half price Amazon, this versatile style is among the most comfortable trainers you can buy.
One of the best designer bags under £1000, the New York tote has been top of my wishlist for a while now. DeMellier did a Black Friday discount this year, so I'm hoping the opportunity might come back around on 26th December!
Makers of some of the best blazers, British clothing brand Reiss really understand how to do tailoring on the high street. This blazer is a sleek alternative to black and will help to smarten up any outfit. It's so slick it might make you want to go back to work...
The ME+EM sale is always one of the best around, and I was so surprised to see this floral midi dress reduced. Princess Beatrice recently wore it to attend Kate Middleton's Together at Christmas carol service, so it's got the Royal seal of approval.
For me, these are the perfect leopard print jeans thanks to the flattering cut and good amount of stretch. The animal print trend is still going strong, so these are well worth snapping up.
Does it get any cosier than Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's fleecy M&S robes? I'll be looking out for this in the sale, then teaming it my the best slippers.
Boxing Day sales ideas
- Cashmere sweaters: we spend a lot of time talking about how much we love cashmere, but it's true. It's quite an investment purchase, but it's worth every penny as it really helps to regulate body temperature and there is a lot of winter weather still to come. Just make sure to read our guide on the best way to store jumpers.
- White trainers: Everyone always needs a pair of the best white trainers. They're anti-trend, anti-season, and budget-friendly. Winner!
- Winter coat: If you already own one of the best waterproof jackets and need something a bit smarter, we've got you covered.
- Cashmere socks: head to The White Company and Brora for the cashmere socks you'll want to live in all winter long. As this is quite a basic item it might not go into sale, but it's always worth checking.
- Dresses: using the sales to top up your wardrobe with the best wedding guest dresses is a great idea. You've probably spotted loads lately, but haven't quite been ready, willing, or able to part with the cash. I usually make a list of my favourite brands, such as Boden, and will have a wish list of my favourite pieces, ready to hit add to basket.
