'I’m a cougar in my 40s & people tell me not to wear a bikini - I don’t care'

A woman has gone viral for her body positivity message hitting back at stereotypes that claim women over 40 shouldn't wear revealing outfits. Fans were left delighted at her latest video - which captured the mum in a bikini, unedited, showing off her natural body.

Gypsy Lee has over 13,000 followers on the app and often posts videos challenging stereotypes of things older women should or shouldn't do according to society. The bikini video, which has racked up more than one million views, starts with her off-screen with the statement 'Mom's over 40 shouldn't wear a bikini. Wanna bet?' written front and centre.

The self confessed cougar then steps into frame as the words vanished to reveal herself wearing a black bikini, embracing her "#mombod", which mimics the male body positivity movement's reclamation of the "dad bod".

In the caption Gypsy Lee wrote: 'Love this body of mine' and included hashtags such as "thickmom", "curvymom" and "hotmom".

The reaction from viewers was overwhelmingly positive with one user writing: 'You can wear whatever makes you feel good! You're beautiful" and others calling her gorgeous or saying she should wear what makes her happy.

Of course there were also commenters seeking to put down the body confident cougar, with one hitting back: "no they shouldn't", in response to her video caption.

Many of the comments showed support for the self-confessed cougar (@lgypsy898/Tiktok)

One user even tried to advise her on styling choices, saying it was "sad to say" but they did "agree a full stylish swimsuit would look amazing". This type of insult which is sugar-coated as a helpful tip is often seen on body positive accounts and can be just as harmful as outright hate.

Gypsy Lee didn't respond to any of these comments but has continued to post her sex and body positive videos, not letting the negativity impact her.

Since posting the bikini video, the self-titled "hot mom" has posted similar style videos with text such as "fun, confident, middle-aged woman loading".

In another video Gypsy Lee lip syncs to the "She's a ten but she..." trend but instead of pointing out a flaw, the sound says "That's it actually, she's a ten". The TikTok ends with the cougar dancing in a low cut pink top to Doja Cat's song Boss B****.

Body positivity for older women and mothers has a big platform on TikTok with the hashtag "mombod" racking up 2.6 billion views and "#Cougartok", which Gypsy Lee also uses, has a massive 1.3 billion views. Meanwhile her own hashtag, which she uses on each of her videos has 6.3 million views.
