'I'm a cleaning expert - getting your house spotless in 15 minutes can be done'

We all want a sparkling home where every object has been put in its correct and proper place, but unfortunately, as is life, things do get busy, and getting really stuck into a good spring clean can feel overwhelming.

Thankfully, help is at hand in the form of expert cleaning guru Sarah Dempsey, who swears that you can make your house spotless in just 15 minutes flat.

Sarah - who is employed as a cleaning expert for MyJobQuote - has advised readers to clean "little and often" to avoid having to spend an entire day doing housework, offering a range of top tips to do just that.

Speaking with The Sun, Sarah suggests starting "with the messiest jobs" so as to establish priorities, keeping on top of heavy-use areas such as your bathroom and kitchen.

According to Sarah, the best way to do this is to make sure to wash up in the evenings, leaving items to drain and air dry, before putting them away in the morning.

She explained: "This breaks up the task. And it saves you time drying up and reduces the need to keep washing tea towels".

Sarah also encouraged people to wipe over their hob after every use, just before it cools down, noting that this preemptive measure makes it much easier to remove food residue.

When it comes to lengthy tasks - like doing the shower and bath - Sarah recommends doing this in two parts to make things easier, taking a few minutes to cover surfaces with a cleaning product, before leaving this on as you go about other tasks or activities.

She said: "When you come back to it, you should be able to wipe it over with minimal scrubbing and then simply rinse it off. This will take you no longer than ten to fifteen minutes of your time".

Sarah has also stressed the importance of timing when doing jobs around the house, suggesting doing one bathroom job before hopping in the shower, such as cleaning the toilet or changing the towels.

According to Sarah: "Doing one thing keeps on top of the cleaning yet only takes a few minutes of your day".

With her final tip, Sarah urges readers to "clean as you sleep", meaning there are plenty of chores that can be left to sort themselves out once you've started them.

For example, by putting a cheap, push-on version of a flexible shower attachment on your bath taps, or leaving things to soak overnight while you get some well-deserved rest.
