I'm A Celebrity winner Sam Thompson receives a hero's welcome as he returns to day job at Hits Radio

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here winner Sam Thompson received a hero's welcome as the newly crowned King of the Jungle returned to his day job as a presenter at Hits Radio.

In a clip shared to social media by the station, the 31-year-old, who originally shot to fame on Made In Chelsea, is greeted by his ecstatic colleagues with confetti cannons, banners and a Colin the Caterpillar cake.

Among those waiting to congratulate him is fellow Hits Radio presenter, Breakfast Show host Fleur East, plus a special guest – her Strictly partner Vito Coppola.

Thompson clearly couldn’t believe the welcome home party and said: ‘This is the greatest thing ever! Thank you so much – I love this, I don’t want this to stop! I can’t believe it. That was the coolest thing ever! We’re back baby!"

He won over a legion of new fans on the ITV reality TV show, which saw 12 celebrities head into the Australian jungle to rough it for three weeks.

Thompson impressed as he took part in a number of gruelling challenges, including the cyclone obstacle course and ate items including a pig’s vagina and a camel’s penis for his last bushtucker trial.

He eventually triumphed after securing 56.6 per cent of the vote with former professional boxer Tony Bellew coming second with 43.4 per cent, while former Ukip leader Nigel Farage took third place. He won't be getting much of a break any time soon as he will be on Hits Radio from 1pm on Christmas Day with a Jungle Bells special where he will be reunited with some of his I’m a Celebrity campmates.

He’s also seeing out 2023 in style with a special New Years Eve Chart Show.
