I'm A Celebrity winner Jill Scott lands first TV role after leaving the jungle

I'm A Celebrity winner Jill Scott has landed her first TV role after her sterling performance Down Under.

The Lioness, 35, was crowned Queen of the Jungle on the ITV show after millions of viewers voted for her.

Jill was a joy to watch with her witty one liners and now fans will get another chance to see her on screen.

The Sunderland-born footballer will be joining Soldier Soldier star Robson Green in his new Weekend Escapes show.

Robson will be exploring his native North-East with big names connected to the region, including Jill, Newcastle United striker Les Ferdinand and TV presenter Steph McGovern, who is from Middlesbrough.

Speaking about the BBC 2 show, Robson said: "The North-East holds a special place in my heart and I'm excited to showcase the best it has to offer.

"We are strongly committed to supporting the incredible local talent, and creating this programme gave us the opportunity to do both."

Her down-to-earth charm and refreshing humour made her an instant hit with viewers who voted in their droves to keep the star in the camp.

The former England international is now predicted to make millions as she launches her TV career.

When Jill was in the jungle, a source close to the player told us: “Jill is being loved by the audience, as we hoped she would be. People are seeing the funny and courageous person that fans of women’s football already know and love.

"The response has been incredible – Jill will be able to pick and choose what she does next.

“Her team has been bombarded with offers. She also has her coffee shop in Manchester and likes to work there, but she’ll struggle to fit in shifts with the amount of work on offer elsewhere.”

Asked on ITV’s Lorraine what it would mean to win the show, Jill’s partner Shelly Unitt said: “She’d be grateful and humble and ecstatic, but she’s not in it to win. It’s about the experience.

"She's been in football 16 years, been tied down to restrictions, and now being able to do something like this… she’ll enjoy every minute.”

Before going into camp, Jill admitted: “I haven’t even thought about winning. I’ve got a tattoo on my wrist that says, ‘Step by step, day by day, mile by mile’ – Whitney Houston lyrics, and something I’ve always lived my life by.

“Tomorrow is never guaranteed – I’ll just always give my all for that day."

Robson Green's Weekend Escapes kicks off on January 23 on BBC2 and will also be shown on iPlayer.
