In a result that must have come as a huge shock to him and his co-stars, Matt Hancock wasn't the first campmate to be given the boot from the new series of I'm A Celebrity, with Charlene White instead being given her marching orders by the public, right after she was left in tears by doing her first trial.
There was genuine outrage when it was announced that disgraced former health secretary Matt had signed up to do the ITV show and that continued after he went into the jungle last week, as a late arrival alongside Seann Walsh. However, a glance at Twitter shows that some I'm A Celebrity viewers have been won over my Matt, despite the bad feeling against him because of what happened during the Covid pandemic, so much so, that earlier this week, he was replaced as favourite to get the boot first by Loose Women star Charlene, who was left petrified on Friday's show as she took on her first trial - Watery Grave.
With just over a week to go until the I'm A Celebrity final It was down to host s Ant and Dec to break the news, after the campmates had been informed that there was an elimination looming as they sat down to their two star meal a night earlier, being told in writing that it was their 'last night all together.' Ant and Dec went into camp towards the end of Friday night's show, just after 8am Australian time to reveal that Charlene would be leaving, as she and Sue Cleaver were the lsat two to find out their fate

Charlene's immediate reaction to Ant and Dec was that it "felt really weird," to have left the jungle, whilst delighting at being able to have a glass of prosecco before her exit interview. She told Ant and Dec that 'her money' was on the show getting Liz Truss or Matt Hancock to go into the jungle, before elaborating on her reasons for not wanting to share the RV with him, saying it would compromise her 'impartiality.'
After he survived the first vote-off, Matt has even seen his chances of winning boosted, with his odds shortening to 4/1 just a few days ago. The overwhelming favourite to win I'm A Celebrity this year is Jill Scott, with the England Lionesses hero well ahead of Owen Warner and Mike Tindall in the latest odds.
