I'm A Celebrity viewers fume as delayed episode pushed back for World Cup coverage

I'm A Celebrity viewers were left fuming on Monday night, as the already delayed episode of the show was pushed back even more due to FIFA World Cup coverage.

The latest game between Wales and USA overran on ITV1, and even when it finally ended the coverage returned - despite I'm A Celebrity being scheduled to start at 20 minutes past nine.

The 9PM show was already pushed back to 9:15PM for the coverage, but fans were even more annoyed when it carried on for another five or so minutes.

When the show was meant to have started, the ITV commentators were still discussing the match, while one reporter was interviewing Welsh footballer Gareth Bale.

So when Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly failed to appear on screen, fans took to Twitter to fume over the longer delay.

Taking to Twitter, one angry fan said: "When there’s still people talking about people kicking a ball about instead of #ImACeleb on itv1."

Another tweeted: "Not about #ImACeleb being pushed back to see footballers talk about the game we just watched."

A third added: "No bore off with the bloody football," as a fourth wrote: "Can we just get in with #imaceleb please @itv - you are now running late!"

The football coverage was also on slightly longer as the channel aired a tribute to ITV's Technical Director Roger Pearce, who sadly died on Monday.

It comes after Scarlette Douglas broke down in tears, as she was second to be booted out of the jungle on Sunday night.

As she joined hosts Ant and Dec, she admitted she was gutted to be leaving so soon, as others were keen to go.

She explained she wanted to keep herself busy as she was a "team player" and was desperate to get "stuck in".

There was no exit on Saturday night, while Friday's episode saw the first elimination of the series with Charlene White being first to go.

Following her exit, Charlene explained how Hancock going into the jungle ruined it for her - as she was always concerned about her impartiality as a journalist as that is her primary job.

She told The Mirror and other press: "Being there and having a laugh and having a joke – that kind of finished when Matt came. Because I have interviewed enough of the families who have lost loved ones during the pandemic.

"I am one of those. As soon as he walked in I thought ‘I’m going to be walking a tightrope here.'

"If I don’t think about them and ask the questions they want to know regarding his reasoning for going into the jungle when we are in the middle of the inquiry into the reaction after the pandemic... then I’m not doing my job.

"It went from me just having a laugh to constantly worrying... whether I would still be taken seriously when it comes to dealing with politicians."

Meanwhile, Olivia Attwood was the first 2022 campmate to leave the show just days into it launching, after she was forced to withdraw.

The Love Island star was left "gutted" when she learned she could not return to the camp, after being removed due to concerning results from a health test in camp.

After being taken to A&E, Olivia was advised she would not be able to return with more tests needing to be done, while she has since confirmed she is fine and healthy.

I'm A Celebrity airs every night at 9pm on ITV and ITVX.
