I'm A Celebrity viewers complain just minutes into show with not everyone happy as new series begins

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here returned to Irish TV screens last night, but not everyone was happy.

Within minutes of the show airing on Virgin Media One, some viewers took to social media to complain over the celebrities taking part.

Hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly opened the show, introducing viewers at home to this year's first 10 celebrities set to enter the jungle.

They include Boy George, Sue Cleaver, Owen Warner, Scarlette Douglas, Mike Tindall, Charlene White, Chris Moyles, Jill Scott, Babatúndé Aléshé and Olivia Attwood, with British Tory MP Matt Hancock set to join at a later date.

As it kicked off on Sunday evening, some fans took to Twitter to vent their frustrations over this year's stars, Mirror UK reports.

The show is back in its 'spiritual home' of Australia after two years in Wales, due to the Covid pandemic.

One person wrote: "Celebrity is an incredibly generous term for half of those in the jungle #ImACeleb."

A second penned: "So why is Mo’s friend on here if he’s not a celebrity? #ImACeleb #ImACelebrity #Imaceleb2022."

A third viewer joked they were feeling nervous for some of the show legends, as they added: "#ImACeleb sorry but I’ve not a clue. I’m getting nervous for Chris Moyles having to pretend he knows who these people are!."

"I don’t even know half the people #ImACeleb," a fourth frustrated viewer said.

I'm A Celebrity returned to screens on Sunday, with Ant and Dec thrilled to be back in Australia after two years in Wales. Last year's show was cancelled briefly as storms hit the camp and wind ripped up some of the production site.

For the first time in history, the celebrities even had to be removed from the camp for a brief time as the bad weather hit the Welsh countryside hard.

Ant and Dec had previously shared their excitement about the show heading back to Australia, with Ant sharing recently: "The plan is, we’re going back to Australia, we don’t want to go elsewhere. It’s got to go back to it. Back to its spiritual home, back to where it all started. Everyone wants to see a bit of sunshine at that time of year on the telly."

Dec added: "We had two lovely years in Wales, we really enjoyed our time in Wales, but this show has to be in Australia, we have to go back," with the pair both thrilled to be back in Australia with the warm weather.

Boy George is one of the star names this year, with the singer revealing it was Ant and Dec themselves who convinced him to do the show, as he revealed: "It actually took a while because I talked about it with my manager, and then we stopped talking about it and I said 'oh I'm not doing it'. And then I spoke to Ant and Dec, and they just encouraged me you know, as they do."

The next live episode of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! airs tonight at 9pm on Virgin Media One.
