I'm A Celebrity... South Africa start date announced - and it's not too far away

The wait is over for I'm A Celebrity fans who have been eager to learn the start date of the much-anticipated 20th anniversary I'm a Celeb special taking place in South Africa. ITV confirmed on Wednesday, April 12, that the new series of the smash-hit show will be making its way to ITV1 on Monday, April 24 with a cast made up of several familiar faces.

Announcing the exciting news on the channel's social media, ITV wrote: "Passports at the ready!

"We’ve got a brand new home, a host of all-star legends, and a LOT of surprises. I’m A Celebrity South Africa starts 24th April on ITV1 and ITVX." For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.

As well as announcing the series' start date, ITV posted a teaser clip which showed a few snippets of the drama, challenges and faces we'll be seeing on the programme, including stars Carol Vorderman, Janice Dickinson, Ashely Banjo, Helen Flanagan and Paul Burrel - and boy are we in for a treat!

The new series will see the return of sickening bush tucker trials that'll have viewers on the edge of their seats as former camp mates battle against each other - not for each other - in a bid to remain in the camp and be crowned, not Jungle King or Queen, but the first "I'm a Celebrity Legend".

The full line up entering - or should we say re-entering - the jungle is as follows:

  • Amir Khan
  • Jordan Banjo
  • Helen Flanagan
  • Carol Vorderman
  • Fatima Whitbread
  • Paul Burrell
  • Phil Tufnell
  • Janice Dickinson
  • Shaun Ryder

Introducing the video, loveable duo Ant and Dec are heard saying: "Welcome to our new home for the next few weeks!" before a compilation of snippets from the celebrities taking part are revealed.

Ashley Banjo is heard saying: "South Africa this time!", while Paul Burrel, who in January revealed he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer, said: "Perhaps I've got more to prove this time around."

"I'm so determined to do better this time," former Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan added, before fans heard Janice Dickinson say: "Gosh, if it's worse it's going to be horrible."

After all this, Ant and Dec state to fans: "You've never seen a series like this before!"

I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! South Africa begins on Monday, April 24 on ITV.
