I'm A Celebrity's Scarlette Douglas shares secret connection to Ant and Dec

I'm A Celebrity... Get me Out Of Here! star Scarlette Douglas has revealed her secret connection to Ant and Dec.

The property guru, who now hosts A Place In The Sun and Worst House on the Street, shared she was once a backing dancer on the Saturday Night Takeaway arena tour.

But a chance to interview the veteran presenters went on to change her career forever.

In a chat with The Mirror, the 35-year-old said: “I am only presenting really because of Ant and Dec.”

Explaining how it came about, she revealed: “Randomly I was a backing dancer on the Saturday Night Takeaway arena tour, and I remember a couple of nights before the final night I had asked if I could interview them. And they were so kind they said yeah, absolutely.”

Scarlette continued: “I had a presenting agent at the time, just from presenting competitions. But me actually getting to interview Ant and Dec was amazing, because the guys are brilliant.

“They were really complimentary of my presenting skills, so to speak, back then - although I didn't have any.

“But you know, they said if it’s something you want to do, you really should focus on it because clearly you've got a knack for it.

"And it's something that we can help with, we can help in any way, we'd love to.”

Ant and Dec went on to set Scarlette up on meetings with their agents and production companies they were working with at the time – kickstarting her presenting career.

“I did go and have these meetings, and especially with the agency, they just gave me a lot of really good advice,” she said.

“And one of the bits of advice was you can use an expertise as a way of presenting, and I didn't know that at the time.

“Me and my eldest brother Stuart – who I now do the Worst House on the Street with - had a property development company.

“We were doing up properties together, redeveloping them. He was doing more of the interior structural redesign, and I was doing more of the interior design and the interior styling of the properties.”

She has also appeared on property shows with brother Stuart and George Clarke (Andrew Fox/Channel 4)

The telly star said this gave her the idea she needed to become not just a presenter, but a TV expert.

She added: “So I went back to the agent that I had at the time and I just said, you know, you probably don't know this - because at the time I was doing musical theatre - but I do property development on the side.

“Can I maybe use that as my expertise and a way into presenting?

“And that same day I had the meeting to present A Place In The Sun. They said they were looking for presenters that had the background, so it kind of all tied in really nicely.”

* I'm A Celebrity starts on Sunday night on ITV at 9pm
