I'm A Celebrity's Owen Warner 'closing on' in win days before final as odds change

Owen Warner is 'closing in' on an I'm A Celebrity victory in the eyes of bookmakers' who now have him as favourite to win, edging out Jill Scott in the latest odds.

England Lionesses hero Jill was well fancied for a jungle victory as soon as her name appeared on the confirmed line-up for the new series of the 'ITV show and she hasn't harmed her chances since the show got going a few weeks, doing well to stay away from some of the controversy and petty squabbles in camp and giving it her all in the trials she's done so far.

However, in the eyes of both bookies and I'm A Celebrity fans, after a rather quiet start, Owen is now gaining momentum all the time. After producing a hilarious moment in the launch episode, when he was left clueless as to who co-star Scarlette Douglas was, Owen largely flew under the radar during the first week, other than constantly complaining about being hungry.

However, over the last week we've seen a funny exchange between him and Seann Walsh on workout tips, him doing Bushtucker Trial with Matt Hancock and then two more in quick succession. And experts are now thinking, that with his increased airtime, including storming the Boiling Point trial on Monday night, Hollyoaks star Owen is now going to push Jill all the way for the jungle crown.

William Hill now have Owen at 5/4 to win I'm A Celeb, ahead of Jill on 13/8 and Mike Tindall on 7/1. Discussing the latest odds, William Hill Spokesperson, Lee Phelps, said: With the first few eliminations from this year’s series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! narrowing the playing field for the outright winner, our markets suggest there’s a new favourite to win the jungle crown.

“Owen Warner, who’s opening price at the start of the series was as high as 8/1, is now the outright favourite at 5/4 to win the series after some generous backing from punters over the weekend.

“Don’t discount the former favourite Jill Scott, who’s odds of 13/8 make her a very slender second favourite behind the Hollyoaks actor. Former England rugby player Mike Tindall (7/1) and West Suffolk MP Matt Hancock (8/1) will likewise continue to attract support as the show enters its third and final week.”

BetVictor also have Owen on 5/4 to win now, BetVictor ’s spokesperson Sam Boswell saying: " It’s the final week of I’m a Celeb as the final is on Sunday! So far, we have had Charlene and Scarlette voted out by the public. Owen Warner is our new favourite at 5/4, he’s been a bit of a dark horse in the competition as he started the series at 12/1. He’s a likeable character in the camp; he’s witty, charismatic and could go all the way to win.”

“Jill Scott, who’s dominated the market throughout the series, sits close behind at 6/4. Hopefully football fans will be behind the Lioness this week and not be too distracted. She’s done really well in the jungle and put her everything in each trial she’s faced.”
