I'm A Celebrity's Chris Moyles takes savage swipe at government in Hancock chat

I'm A Celebrity 's Chris Moyles couldn't help but take a cheeky swipe at Matt Hancock and the government, as he questioned how the different ministerial roles were decided on.

The radio star grilled Hancock on the cabinet reshuffling process, keen to know how the Prime Minister of the UK decides who to put in which position.

But as Hancock admitted it isn't always an MP who knows about a particular topic that is made secretary of that subject, Chris was left puzzled - and he joked it didn't take much, it seemed, to be made a government minister.

Hancock commented that a chosen minister did not have to be an expert on their subject, as each minister had other experts around them to advise on matters.

Chris referred to the health sector, knowing Hancock was previously the Health Secretary last year, suggesting the MP in that position should surely have some knowledge on the topic in order to be in charge of it.

He ended up taking a swipe at Hancock and the government, as his co-star responded saying the knowledge is "only half of the job".

Chris had said of the minister roles: "But how many MPs have got quite a decent knowledge of defence?”

Matt told him: "The job of the minister is not to be the subject matter expert. Of course, you need to get to grips with the subject matter, but that is only half the job.

"There’s a load of transferable skills - handling parliament, communicating with the public, taking decisions effectively - and then you have the subject matter experts who advise you on it all."

In the Bush Telegraph, Chris hilariously swiped: "I’m starting to think now, to be Minister of Transport, all you need is a car. And to be Minister of Health all you need is to be breathing."

Chris told Hancock: "If I was head of Culture and Sport and Digital and then got the phone call saying, ‘We want you to be in charge of the health of the nations’ I’d be like, ‘I can’t do that… I don’t know anything about that. I know a few doctors, but I think I’d need a bigger team of advisors.’"

Hancock then said: "But you do and that’s what you have. Nobody is a specialist in the whole health service, literally nobody. Even the Chief Executive of the Health Service."

It comes as the fifth elimination of the series aired on Wednesday night, as comedian Babatunde Aleshe left the jungle for good.

As the result came in, Babatunde said his goodbyes - leaving six stars remaining on the 2022 series.

On leaving them, he thanked his new friends for his time on the show and said it was "the best experience he had ever had".

The comedian soon left the presenters laughing seconds into his exit interview, as he spilled a glass of champagne over himself.

Babatunde told Ant and Dec he wanted Owen Warner to win the show, calling the actor his "closest friend" in camp.

The comedian also revealed he was surprised how different it was doing the show to watching it as a viewer, telling the pair: "Living in it is a whole different experience."

Viewers were gutted to see him leave the show so close to the final, with many surprised by the result.

I'm A Celebrity airs every night at 9pm on ITV and ITVX.
