Charlene White went straight for the jugular after Matt Hancock entered the I'm A Celebrity jungle, asking a question that everyone wanted the answer to.
After a week of headlines and heated reactions over him signing up to do I'm A Celebrity, disgraced former Health Secretar y Hancock finally join campmates like Boy George, Owen Warner and Loose Women host Charlene during Wednesday night's show, as millions of viewers tuned in back in the UK, desperate to see how the others would react to his arrival.
The overwhelming reaction was one of shock, as the other stars, particularly Matt's fellow late arrival, Seann Walsh, struggled to come to terms with the fact he was there. Charlene, also a ITV newsreader, couldn't get her head round Hancock being there, and, getting the mood of the nation absolutely spot on, she said in the Bush Telegraph: "I can imagine that this hasn't gone down well," before them firing a probing at him, when they were away from their co-stars, asking him: "Why are you here?"

Keeping his composure, Hancock replied: "There are so few ways in which politicians can show that we are human beings." As Charlene looked distinctly unimpressed, he added: "I can use this to sort of, peel myself back a bit and just be me."
Reacting to his answers out of earshot, Charlene commented: "Matt has a tough hill to climb and me, as journalist, have to ask him
Many I'm A Celebrity fans, having been furious at Hancock going on the show, were delighted that Charlene didn't hold back with her questioning. Taking to Twitter, one posted: "So glad Charlene and few others are not falling for Matt Hancock's act. He simply should not be there. If I was one of those celebrities I would walk out of the show." Also backing her, a second tweeted: "Really pleased there is a journalist in there holding Matt Hancock to account. Good on Charlene for doing that and not holding back."
Others weren't so impressed with Charlene's grilling, with a critic reacting: "I had to laugh when Charlene asked Matt Hancock why was he there. Simple Charlene he's there for the same reason as the rest of you the money," as another, echoing the same sentiments, wrote: "Bit of a cheek Charlene asking why Matt is doing jungle for. Why is she doing it ? Why are any of them ? Get off your high hypocritical horse."
