I'm A Celebrity's Boy George says top chef is the only person who's ever bought him dinner

The celebrities in the I'm a Celeb camp are starting to talk about dining out as their time in the jungle without guaranteed meals starts to bite, and mushroom-loving Boy George has revealed that only one person has ever bought him dinner and it was a pretty famous chef.

Sitting around camp, Mike Tindall, Boy George, Seann Walsh and Owen Warner were talking about going out for food with friends. Royal relative Mike asked the others: “Do you have any mates where they go, ‘Let’s go out for food’ and you go, ‘OK, where do you want to go?’ [They say] ‘Don’t mind anywhere, I’ll eat anything…’ [and you say], ‘Ok let’s go here.’ [And they say],’ No, I don’t want to go there.’”

Seann admitted: “I’m that guy. I just want to meet in town and work it out when we get there.” Chris said: “That’s on par with the classic when the bill comes: ‘I didn’t have a starter’.”

Seann replied: “I’ve never been with anyone who would do that. That would drive me mad. That can’t be real.”

Boy George contributed, making the conversation a bit more interesting, saying: “But if someone’s got no money and they’re… I would never take a friend who I know hasn’t got much money to an expensive restaurant and make them pay. That would just never happen. I think, actually in 30 years, one person’s bought me dinner. The one person who has bought me dinner is Jamie Oliver. I went to his restaurant and he was in there. I had dinner and they said Jamie’s bought your dinner. I said, ‘You’re the first man in 30 years that’s bought me dinner, thank you so much.’”

Seann in the Bush Telegraph said: “I’d buy George a meal. But he would have to come to Wagamama. Would he be up for that? We’d have to get another seat for his hat.”

Elsewhere on the show tonight, serving MP Matt Hancock burnt the rice and Owen won nine stars in the trial, Boiling Point.
