Boy George nearly pulled out of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here - as he hates surprises.
His manager Paul Kemsley appeared alongside Carol Vorderman on ITV's This Morning today as they chatted about the jungle experience - and how Boy George was doing so far amid claims of some 'tension' between him and Charlene White. The pair appeared to clash over the cooking duties, and things only continued as George begged for something to do in camp.
Paul admits he has found it "tough" watching his friend in there, as he also revealed he was the one who convinced him to go in. He said there was a point where George considered pulling out of the show as he was scared.
Speaking to This Morning's Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, Paul Kemsley - who is Boy George's long time friend and manager - discussed the tension in camp over the cooking, as he said: "It's so tough to watch it when you love someone and I'm sitting here thinking, four weeks ago he was playing in front of 100,000 people, and now he's in a water tank half drowning.
"He cooks a lot. I would [let her cook]. He would like to cook. He's a bit of a control freak. He's a kind, nice guy and he's very into meditation and breathing and he'll get through it. It's very early doors."
Paul explained there was a time where Boy George nearly didn't make it into the jungle at all.
"He got himself in a big state emotionally - he was scared before he went in. There was a lead up when he wasn't doing it. He's not one for surprises, and there's lots of surprises in this show," Paul added, "I talked him into it. What have I done?"
He added: "The guy's a global icon - and I've stuck him in a jungle!"
Boy George previously revealed it was hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly who convinced him to do the show.
"I think I was asked a couple of times in the past. Then I went on Saturday Night Takeaway to do that a while back, I feel like I was set up by Ant and Dec," Boy George revealed in a chat before heading into the jungle, "They said to me, what would make you do it and I said, 'if you did like a vegan or vegetarian one', And they said we can, and I thought 'oh s**t'.
"It actually took a while because I talked about it with my manager, and then we stopped talking about it and I said 'oh I'm not doing it'. And then I spoke to Ant and Dec – and you know how charming they are – I spoke to them, and they just encouraged me."
