I'm A Celebrity's Boy George leaves jungle days before final as fourth star axed

I'm A Celebrity has aired its fourth eviction of the 2022 series, with Boy George the latest to leave the show.

Hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly announced the latest results from the public vote during Tuesday night's episode.

Just days before the live final, scheduled to air this coming Sunday, the campmates waved goodbye to another star - with seven of them now remaining in camp.

Boy George cheered as his time on the show came to an end, before he hugged it out with his co-stars.

The singer confessed he was glad he left when he did, but insisted he had an "amazing time" down in camp.

George did admit to "dipping" mentally and having moments of wanting to leave, before going on to call for Mike Tindall to win the show.

The campmate said: "I had to forget who I was for the whole time I was in there. I just had to let go. I'm happy to go today."

Dec grilled him on who he thought wasn't being their true selves in camp, but he declined to comment on specific names.

What he did say was: "People say things... they b***h about someone else but don't say it to the person, but they’re probably hoping they are not being filmed."

On his singing getting him through the harder times in the jungle, George added: "I did have times where I dipped and I said I wanna leave... music is the best medicine."

George also addressed the moment he confessed to Matt Hancock he had been "hating on him" behind his back, before defending the Tory MP's behaviour in camp.

Speaking of this and being himself on the show, George said: "When you have got cameras on you, the younger people are probably used to being watched. It doesn’t bother them because they live in this sort of two-way mirror experience.

"For me there were things people didn’t speak up about. There was b****ing going on over here and people weren’t saying it to people’s faces. Having Matt in here was really challenging obviously for a lot of reasons, and I thought I’ve gotta tell him what I said. He was there and I thought I had to say it."

He added: "And by the way he is just a person. In here he is just a person. He mucked in and was really doing a lot to help everyone, and so I can't judge him on that. Everyone in there was very kind, even the people who I didn't necessarily get on with all the time."

Boy George had threatened to quit the show after Hancock's arrival at the start of the series, and there were moments where the singer called him out to other stars on the show.

George's exit comes as Sue Cleaver became the third campmate to be voted out of the jungle on Monday night.

The Coronation Street star confessed she'd "had enough" and it was her time to leave, as she screamed with excitement when her name was called.

This followed TV presenter Scarlette Douglas breaking down in tears on Sunday, as she was second to be booted out of the jungle.

As she joined hosts Ant and Dec, she admitted she was gutted to be leaving so soon, as others were keen to go.

Meanwhile, the first elimination of the series saw Charlene White first to go on Friday night.

Following her exit, Charlene explained how Hancock going into the jungle ruined it for her - as she was always concerned about her impartiality as a journalist as that is her primary job.

Earlier on in the series, Olivia Attwood was the first 2022 campmate to leave the show just days into it launching, after she was forced to withdraw.

The Love Island star was left "gutted" when she learned she could not return to the camp, after being removed due to concerning results from a health test in camp.

After being taken to A&E, Olivia was advised she would not be able to return with more tests needing to be done, while she has since confirmed she is fine and healthy.

I'm A Celebrity airs every night at 9pm on ITV and ITVX.
