I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! was forced to stop one of the Bushtucker Trials over cheating claims last night.
The campmates were taking part in a quiz show based on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, which was renamed Who Wants To Look Silly On Air?
Former health secretary Matt Hancock and Hollyoaks star Owen Warner were picked to answer the questions while being gunged with all manner of nasties, from fish guts to sticky BBQ sauce and feathers.
But, halfway through hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly had to halt the show when it appeared there was some fellow campmates in the audience were cheating.
Matt and Owen were asked: "Which of these sports stars has not come first in the Sports Personality of the Year award?"
The four answers to choose from were Jonny Wilkinson, Jessica Ennis-Hill, Michael Owen and Freddy Flintoff.
Discussing their options, Owen said he thought it was Michael Owen and was about to give that as a final answer when former rugby player Mike Tindall and other camp mates coughed in the background, hinting at the right answer.
Ant told the campmates: "Now we’re going to stop there because there was some audience cheating going on there."
Dec continued: "So we’re going to have to take your final answer of C, Michael Owen."
A Place In The Sun star Scarlette Douglas chimed in: "But that’s not their final answer is it?"
To which Dec replied: "It was their final answer because you all coughed. Those are the rules guys!"
The real answer was then revealed to be Olympic champion track star Jessica Ennis-Hill.
The audience coughing was a reference to the real-life Who Wants To Be A Millionaire cheating scandal in 2001.
Charles Ingram and his wife Diana, along with co-conspirator Tecwen Whittock, were found guilty of cheating their way to winning £1 million by coughing when the correct answers came up.
All three were given short jail sentences, but they were suspended for two years, meaning none of the trio ever served any jail time. They also lost out on the cash prize.
Taking to social media viewers reacted to the reference of the scandal on I'm A Celeb as one fan wrote: "HAHAHAHAH MIKE DOING THE COUGHING THING #ImACeleb."
Another commented: "The trial was a perfect amount of chaos! Also loved Dec getting mad at the campers for coughing."
"Ant and Dec fuming jeez #ImACeleb," a third chimed in.
A fourth said: "Never seen Dec so serious about a challenge in my life #ImACeleb."
While a fifth added: "Dec telling the camp mates off like an irate Geography teacher #ImACeleb."
Owen and Matt were disappointed when they only managed to win five stars for the camp’s meal.
Viewers have already voted Matt to again do tonight’s challenge which is called House of Horrors.
