Matt Hancock is being touted to break an I'm A Celebrity record, before he's even been confirmed for a stint in the jungle.
On Tuesday morning, social media went crazy over the news that the former Health Secretary, who resigned after damning evidence of him cheating on his wife in Downing Street while the nation was subject to strict Covid rules emerged, was ready to head Down Under to be a surprise late arrival on the new series of I'm A Celebrity.
Phillip Schofield halted This Morning to break news of the rumours, with his co-host Holly Willoughby explaining: "There's also been statements sent to the press from a source close to Matt Hancock which says: 'Matt doesn't expect to serve in Government again, so it's an incredible opportunity for him to engage with the 12 million Brits who tune in every single night. Matt has told the whips in Parliament that he will use his time in the jungle to promote his dyslexia campaign."

Phillip added: "Well the Conservative party's chief whip, Simon Hart, who is in charge of keeping MPs in order has told reporters 'Following conversations with Matt Hancock, I have considered the situation and believe this is a matter serious enough to warrant suspension of the whip with immediate effect."
Having previously offered odds on Liz Truss going into the jungle, following her resignation as PM, bookies have opened the book on Matt Hancock's I'm A Celebrity stint, with the smart money set to go on him being voted to do the most Bushtucker Trials in the ITV programme's history.
The record is currently seven in a row, held by Naughty Boy last year. Katie Price did six when she returned to the jungle for a second go in series nine. She quit after learning that she'd been voted to do a seventh and now Hancock is being tipped by a number of bookies to exceed that amount.
Betway have him at 6/4 to get picked to do every trial, with Betfair having him at 2/1 to break Katie Price's record, with Hancock a 16/1 shot to win.
