Although the campmates on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! are currently enjoying the Australian sunshine, those who took part last year and in 2000 had a very different experience. During the coronavirus pandemic, the series was filmed at Gwrych Castle in north Wales so the trials were adapted including the eating challenges.
TV presenter Vernon Kay took part in the 2020 series of I'm A Celebrity, which was filmed in Wales, and he came third behind radio presenter Jordan North and author Giovanna Fletcher, who won the series. While at the castle, Vernon faced a number of Bushtucker trials including the Celebrity Cyclone, Table of Torment where he was covered in insects and rotting fruit and veg and the dreaded eating challenge Frights of the Roundtable.
During this challenge Vernon was served "Nuts Roast" which was a deer testicle which caused him to gag. Now Vernon has taken to Twitter saying that eating deer balls is his "lasting memory of Wales".
Tweeting that he wanted current campmate and former health secretary Matt Hancock to face fewer trials after being consistently voted to do them, he told fans he would be voting for Chris Moyles. He said: "Please can we have less (hand and aubergine emoji) in tonight's @imacelebrity?!?! Let's get someone else in the trials. Give them the full trial experience! I'll be voting @ChrisMoyles tonight!! All 5 votes!!"
He then added: "Eating (deer and nut emoji) was my lasting memory of Wales" followed by laughing faces emojis and wink face emojis. It appears Vernon's wishes came true as Chris will be facing the next Bushtucker trial, alongside Babtunde Aleshe and Boy George.
They will be facing the Angel of Agony, where they are trapped in an angel structure with bugs and insects and have to work together to earn the stars. I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! continues on ITV at 9.15pm on Tuesday, November 15.
