I'm A Celebrity final set to be 'closest ever' as result goes to the wire

I'm A Celebrity is set to for its 'closest ever final' with bookmakers completely torn on who's going to take the jungle crown this year out of Jill Scott and Owen Warner.

The ITV show has had a few closely run finals over the years, with Jacqueline Jossa edging out fellow soap star Andy Whyment by just 1% in 2019, before I'm A Celebrity had its closest result to date a year later, when Giovanna Fletcher beat runner Jordan North by just 0.5% to become the programme's first ever Queen of the Jungle, as it was forced to make the switch to Wales during the Covid pandemic.

Last year's result was slightly more comprehensive, as Danny Miller became King of the Castle, thanks to a 55.05% to 44.95% win over Simon Gregson in the final.

With just days to go until this year' s I'm A Celebrity final, odds are changing all the time on who will become King or Queen of the Jungle for 2022. Jill Scott, one of England Lionesses' victorious Euros squad, has been in the mix to triumph from the moment her name appeared on the I'm A Celebrity line-up for the new series. And, after another well fancied star, Olivia Attwood, was forced to quit the show just a day after the launch show went out on ITV, Jill pulled ahead of the chasing pack.

However, over the last week there has been a significant change in the odds as support has been growing for Hollyoaks actor Owen. Both have been favourite to win at different points over the last few days on odds of 8/15. At the time of writing on Thursday lunchtime, Sunderland born footballer Jill had just edged ahead again but experts are predicting Sunday's final will be 'too close to call.'

A spokesperson for BritishGambler.co.uk commented: “Late bloomer Owen Warner has turned the I’m a Celeb leaderboard up-side-down as his popularity amongst the fans have gone from mid-table to top spot in a matter of days. So much that he’s now neck and neck with long standing favourite Jill Scott in a series that have turned into a two horse race.

"Whilst Jill was the bookies favourite even ahead of the show, the handsome 23 year old has manoeuvred his way around his campmates in a very impressive manner, from a memorable BHushtucker trial with Matt Hancock to a funny conversation on working out with Seann Walsh to absolutely storming the Boiling Point trial, and as a result, he’s climb the leaderboard like no one else and whilst doing so pushing Mike Tindall down to third place."

On the drifting odds for one time frontrunner Mike Tindall, they added: ""Having been installed as one of the favourites to win this year’s I’m a Celebrity, in the last few days, Mike Tindall has seen his odds drift and the chances for the ex England international to be crowed King of the jungle seem to be slipping away. As his popularity amongst viewers has taken a toll, bookmakers have responded by lengthening Tindall’s odds from 2/1 to 8/1, to win the hit show."
