I'm A Celebrity fans cringe as Matt Hancock sings Ed Sheeran song in 'painful' scene

I'm A Celebrity fans were left cringing over the latest episode, following the arrival of Matt Hancock and Seann Walsh.

The disgraced former Health Secretary made his debut on Wednesday, and it wasn't long before he was serenading his co-star Seann.

As the pair learned they were in it together, they asked each other about their lives and their careers.

The topic of conversation moved on to favourite musicians, as the Tory MP asked comedian Seann about his tattoo.

Seann explained that it was a nod to his favourite band Blink-182, and as he asked his co-star who his favourite band was, Matt said: "Quite mainstream… I’m not going to put a tattoo of Ed Sheeran on my neck."

Seann asked: "You like Ed Sheeran?" to which he replied: “Love him, yeah… and I’m from Suffolk as well."

It's then that Matt started to sing an Ed Sheeran song, singing: "You between my arms… bare foot on the grass… don’t get me singing… listening to my favourite song...What’s it called? Perfect? I love it."

As the moment aired, viewers were left red-faced over the serenading and took to Twitter to call it "cringe".

One viewer said: "This is absolute cringe," as a second said: "Matt Hancock trying to be relatable by singing Ed Sheeran is the cringiest thing I’ve ever seen."

Another tweeted: "why is matt hancock singing ed sheeran get ME out of here."

A fourth added: "'don’t let me sing im terrible' THEN STOP SINGING, PLEASE SAVE US."

It comes as I’m A Celeb viewers slammed Hancock 's arrival, after it was confirmed on Tuesday.

As the show came to an end, it was soon announced they would both be taking on the next Bushtucker Trial.

Speaking in the episode, Hancock shared his hopes for the series - but his comments fell flat with viewers.

The new arrival said: "This experience will be an adventure. When I'm in camp people will see the real me. Survival in the jungle is a good metaphor for the world I work in.

"People will see me warts and all and will all see the human side of the guy behind the podium. I don't think I've got any fears or phobias but I am about to find out."

Viewers were distracted from the VT though, still furious with ITV for paying Hancock to take part in the show.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: "Anyone else think its disgusting ITV are paying Matt Hancock to go on this show after EVERYTHING?"

Another fan said: "As much as I love #imaceleb I actually think it’s vile on ITV’s part to even entertain the idea of having Matt Hancock on this show let alone paying him the amount they are."

A third viewer tweeted: "Don’t let this distract from the fact that they’re paying him FOUR HUNDRED THOUSAND POUNDS for this."

I'm A Celebrity airs every night at 9pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
