I'm A Celebrity... Day 5 review: Fred and Nella make up and Farage goes (almost) full monty

Fred Sirieix and Nella Rose appeared to have made up in the latest episode of I'm A Celebrity, two days after a blazing row in which the 26-year-old influencer declared she would no longer “be friends” with the First Dates maître-d.

There was tension in the air on day five when the two were paired up for a challenge, but it seemed all had been forgiven as they high-fived and hugged after winning the basketball-themed competition and bringing back a luxurious dinner for their campmates.

After a fraught few days down under, the campmates were perhaps in need of some fresh faces to shake things up, and jockey Frankie Dettori and boxer Tony “Bomber” Bellew were the first newbies to join the jungle. It was somewhat a baptism of fire – a few minutes after touching down into camp, Ant and Dec had the pair jumping on trampolines with pigs’ testicles in their mouths. (Salty, if you were wondering).

There were some expectations of a clash between Bellew and Nigel Farage, who made his thoughts about the former UKIP leader clear in a fiery tweet last year, when he wrote “It’s cos of people like you that racism still exists! Absolute maniac you are!” in response to Farage saying that London, Birmingham and Manchester were “minority white cities”.

But, there was no evidence of the social media beef spilling into the jungle as the group jovially discussed Bellew’s relationship with world heavyweight champion David Haye, and speculated whether or not the boxer is in a throuple (Farage’s input into the conversation).

Bellew also opened up to the group about his past financial struggles, saying that, even while he was working, he and his wife were “so far away from financial security. We were basically f***ing skint.''

“I had a big, heavy, heavy mortgage,” he added. “I shouldn't say skint, but I was living on fight to fight.” After defending his world title, Bellew said he earned “OK money," but it was his fight with Haye that earned “four times his whole career combined”.

If it all seems a bit too wholesome to be true, viewers were also treated to some more close-ups of a naked Nigel Farage in the bath, as has become a bit of a staple on the series.

At one point, all that prevented viewers from seeing Farage’s full shebang was a strategically angled leaf in the foreground of the shot. “It was the weirdest feeling seeing Nigel Farage’s arse first thing in the morning,” Danielle chuckled. “Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, its Nigel Farage’s arse.”

On day five, the group actually split into two separate camps – the Home and Away teams – after all the campmates went head-to-head in a challenge involving offal, turkey feathers and slime cascading from the roof of a claustrophobic-looking cabin.

After threatening to quit in tears on day three, Jamie-Lynn Spears surprised viewers again by redeeming herself in the trial for the second night in a row. The American actress, and sister of Britney, came first, with Sam, Danielle, Nella and Fred the other four winners.

The group had the privilege of heading back to main camp, while Josie, Nigel, Marvin, Nick and Grace were on the losing team, relegated to splinter camp Snake Rock (featuring a rather sad looking group of sleeping mats on the floor and a dinner of rice and beans).

Grace cut a glum figure, appearing to give up on the challenge halfway through. But the columnist was nominated by the public for the next bushtucker trial, alongside Nella – viewers will have to wait for tomorrow night to see how the pair fare.

Tipped to win: ITV presenter Josie Gibson is still looking like the bookies' favourite, and her hilariously endearing reaction to being relegated to Snake Rock reminded viewers why. After ruffling more than a few feathers, we also got to see a warmer side of Nella, sans the drama of the first three days in camp.
