I’m A Celebrity Chris Moyles’ life from Yorkshire roots to weight loss, love life and controversial career

Chris Moyles is a household name in radio, thanks to his long career in broadcasting. The star was born in Leeds and started his career while still at school, hosting hospital radio shows.

Chris moved to his local radio station Aire FM, where he was an assistant to DJ Carl Kingston and became a presenter on Radio Top Shop in the Leeds Briggate branch.

After he hosted his own Saturday Evening Show on Aire FM, he was then picked up by Radio Luxembourg where he was the presenter in 1992 until the station closed.

This later gave way to stints at local radio stations Aire FM, The Pulse of West Yorkshire, and Signal 1 in Stoke-On-Trent.

He later joined Capital FM and moved on to BBC Radio One, where he remained with the breakfast show for eight-years.

The star will now be taking part in this year’s I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! after turning down the ITV show for a number of years.

Speaking ahead of the show's release, he said: "Some people say if something scares you, then do it. But I am a firm believer you shouldn’t scare yourself! I am a big fan of my own comfort zone, too."

“In the past, I always said no to offers to take part. But this year, I didn’t say no immediately, and I ended up going to a meeting," Moyles added. "Now I don’t know why I said yes. But I am a huge fan of the show and I know what I am letting myself in for! My friends who have done it before have told me I will have a great time.”

Is Chris married and does he have children?

Chris is not married but he has been with long term girlfriend Tiffany Austin since 2015. Tiffany is a successful art manager who has worked with many celebrities, such as Boy George, who will also be joining Chris in the Jungle.

She is originally from Beverly Hills, where the DJ spent much of his downtime during a career break between leaving the Radio 1 breakfast show in 2012 and joining Radio X in 2015.

The art manager has since moved from Hollywood to London to be closer to him. Before finding love with Tiffany the presenter was previously linked to Spice Girl Mel C and Irish actress Aoibhinn McGinnity.

Chris Moyles' controversial moments

Chris is known for some outspoken comments while on his radio shows. His blunt and irreverent form of presenting often courted controversy and complaints.

In 2002, he made some inappropriate comments to a 16-year-old Charlotte Church, saying he wanted to "lead her through the forest of sexuality now she had reached 16". Watchdog, the Broadcasting Standards Commission, said the "explicit sexual content and humour had exceeded acceptable boundaries for the time of transmission".

Later, in 2006 Chris was accused of homophobia. He rejected a ringtone by saying on air "I don't want that one, it's gay." Complaints flooded in to the BBC.

Then in July, Chris was criticised by Ofcom for an incident in which he referred to female listeners as "dirty wh*res" for urinating in the shower.

In January 2008, the presenter sparked controversy when he boasted that he drank five pints of lager a day. Experts criticised him for glamourising binge drinking, but Radio 1 said his remarks were "just banter".

Chris' weight loss

Chris recently decided to ditch his unhealthy lifestyle and has since lost more than six stone. However he admitted that he struggles with maintaining his new physique. Speaking to Ross Kemp on his podcast The Kempcast, Chris confessed he still suffers from body dysmorphia, despite having shrunk from 18 stone to 12 stone, Liverpool Echo reports.

The comedian detailed his strict regimen of weighing himself daily and barely eating all day Monday-Friday, before enjoying himself at the weekends. He said: "Before lockdown, Monday, Wednesday, Friday I would do the show we would have a quick meeting... and then I'd get to the gym and I'd train 11-12 or 11-1, depending on how fat I was feeling. I'm feeling really fat at the moment!

"I'm fascinated by body dysmorphia because I really have an issue with body dysmorphia, which I think most people do. I've lost six stone from my worst weight when I was 18 stone.

"I know my body really well now, and I'm still learning. I don't have the metabolism of an 18-year-old girl or boy, I just don't."

He added: 'I will, and people don't believe me, but I weigh myself six days a week, and I know you shouldn't and I know it's not for everyone, but I do that so I can learn about how my body works.

"I will train Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and I will watch what I eat and I'll eat very little. I do intermittent fasting and I'll eat at 6.30PM or 7PM and I'll be fine. I need to do that from the weekends that I have."
