Boy George - real name George O'Dowd - is one of the famous faces entering the I'm a Celebrity jungle for the 2022 series, the first in Australia since 2019. And it comes as no surprise that the '80s legend, known for his unique sense of style, appeared in the group promo shot in a shirt that's different to his fellow campmates.
Culture Club singer George was never going to fall in line and dress the same as all the other campmates - who include Mike Tindall and Charlene White, more on the line-up, here - and appeared in a khaki shirt covered in red spots, he also had formed his hat into a crown shape - he does love a hat, though, George. He'd already made a style statement when landing at Brisbane Airport wearing a lion mask to greet awaiting photographers. and joking: "I'm here to a version of The Lion Queen, I don't know what you are talking about darling!"

The reason why Boy George was able to put his own stamp on the uniform is very simple. - he asked. Speaking to the Metro, a TV insider revealed how the singer asked ITV if he was able to adapt his shirt for the photoshoot and TV bosses were happy to let the star get creative. George's crown-shaped hat seen in the promotional image could be a nod to the singer's desire to be crowned King of the Jungle this year. "King of the jungle, how fabulous would that be? I want to be the Harry Redknapp of my generation," the star admitted as his appearance on the ITV show was confirmed.
George, 61, is most likely to "sing and strop in equal measure" in camp and added: “I am bored of being iconic in the corner and if you want to compete in the world then being part of telly is part of that. This is the biggest show on TV and that is why I am doing it. And now I have made the decision, I don’t want to focus too much on what the experience might be like, but my intention is it is going to be amazing.”
