I'm A Celebrity 2022 first look at star-studded line-up as ITV announce major show format shake-up

The I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! celebrities are finally dressed in their jungle gear and ready to head into the camp for another highly-anticipated series of the ITV show.

The new line up was unveiled in the first set of official cast photos for 2022, as the ten stars discussed their hopes and fears for the month ahead in Australia.

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have been spotted out and about in Australia as they prepare to host the gruelling show off the back of another National Television Awards presenting win.

Boy George dubbed himself ‘a bit like Margaret Thatcher’ as he doesn’t sleep much, while romance could be on the cards for Hollyoaks hunk Owen Warner and property expert Scarlette Douglas.

Royal family member Mike Tindall insists he is an ‘open book’ and so could be poised to dish on what he has witnessed at the Palace over the years.

The full line-up photos come as ITV has announced a major twist to the show format this year, which could leave some celebs screaming ‘get me out of here!’ earlier than others.

As of Monday evening, I’m A Celeb viewers can vote to make a number of stars VIPs, or in jungle parlance ‘Very Isolated People’, who will spend their first night stranded on an island to face the first trial of the series.

Here, we take a look at the show's full line-up of stars who have already landed and are days away from entering the jungle on the other side of the globe.

Matt Hancock

The disgraced former Health Secretary Mr Hancock is yet to pose in his jungle gear like the rest of his campmates, as he signed up to the show at the last-minute.

His signing was confirmed as it was announced he had been suspended from the Tory Whip. Chief whip Simon Hart said: "Following a conversation with Matt Hancock, I have considered the situation and believe this is a matter serious enough to warrant suspension of the whip with immediate effect."

Mr Hancock's salary for taking part in the show is also expected to be declared and the MP will make a donation to charity. A political ally of Matt Hancock's said: "Matt will be making a donation to St Nicholas Hospice in Suffolk, and he will, of course, declare the amount he receives from the show to Parliament to ensure complete transparency, as normal."

The MP hopes to show the 'real him' to I'm A Celeb fans but, his addition to the line-up has already sparked controversy.

Mike Tindall MBE

Mike Tindall MBE is the first royal family member to take part in the show (ITV)

The 44-year-old former England rugby player and member of the royal family has said ahead of his show debut that he thinks I’m A Celebrity will prove a tough challenge to win.

He said: “I am used to doing something where you know if you do the best you can, you can win. This isn’t that set up.

“All I would hope to do is be useful to the group. Winning is out of your control. But I am not going in to win it. All I can do is what I think is the best and someone else will judge me on whether they think it is."

Jill Scott MBE

Lioness Jill Scott MBE is taking to the jungle fresh off the Lioness' win (ITV)

The 35-year-old England Lioness is fresh from an historic win at the Euros over the summer, after which she announced her retirement from the sport.

She said: “I am a winning type of person naturally but more in a football sense when there is a Euro’s trophy at the end of it. “I am not going in to win.I am going in to have a good time.”

“I think my England teammates will be shocked when they find out,” she added. “But I think they will say if there is a show for Jill to go on, because of the team side, then this is the one to do."

Chris Moyles

Chris Moyles is trading the radio station for the jungle (ITV)

The 48-year-old radio DJ has said he is the most likely to slag other people off in the Bush Telegraph, after regularly putting the boot into other stars on Radio 1.

He said: “If people are expecting what they hear on the radio, then they had better prepare themselves for a much quieter, sensitive Christopher Moyles.

“The radio version is a very turned up version of me, but hopefully if I can bring some humour to the camp, then it will make everyone in the camp feel at ease.”

Boy George

Boy George is 'bored of being iconic in a corner' (ITV)

The music icon, 61, is said to have secured the highest pay cheque in the show's history as he lands in the outback.

However, Boy George has said he is ‘bored’ on ‘being iconic in the corner’, adding: “If you want to compete in the world then being part of telly is part of that.

“This is the biggest show on TV and that is why I am doing it. And now I have made the decision, I don’t want to focus too much on what the experience might be like, but my intention is it is going to be amazing.”

Charlene White

Charlene White has upped her gym training in preparation (ITV)

The Loose Women favourite, 42, said she upped her gym training in the run up to flying Down Under, with more weights in the mix than usual.

She explained: “None of us have ever been in this situation before so you can’t prepare. But if I feel body strong, then I know I will feel mentally stronger.”

The ITV newsreader has also said she is ready to bring her daytime chattiness to the jungle, encouraging others to open up.

Sue Cleaver

Sue Cleaver will be the mother hen of the group (ITV)

The Corrie star, 59, has traded in the cobbles for the I’m A Celebrity camp, where she hopes to be the mother figure of the jungle.

She said: ““I am going in with an open mind. Nothing is going to kill us and I am not going to wind myself up, trying to overthink everything.

“I don’t know how I will behave and I am going to let the experience unfold in front of my eyes."

Owen Warner

Owen Warner is looking for love in the jungle (ITV)

The Romeo Nightingale actor, 23, is the youngest camp member this year and the Hollyoaks star has already said he’s going to be a treat for the shower camera, promising to take his top off within an hour of arriving.

He said: “If someone is out of order, then I will say something. But I don’t want it to cause any tension and hopefully they will stop.

“I don’t think I will cry either in the jungle but then again I cry at most films and sometimes even new food!”

Babatunde Aléshé

Babatunde Aléshé has taken a break from Gogglebox (ITV)

The Celebrity Gogglebox star, 36, has taken a break from sitting alongside Mo Gilligan on the sofa to crack jokes in the Australian outback.

He said: “I haven’t got time for arguments. I know seeing me freaking out every five minutes will be entertaining for everyone but this will be a first-time experience for all of us and I think my role will be as a tension breaker.

“We don’t need to be bickering behind each other’s backs. We are all in the same boat together.”

Olivia Attwood

Olivia Attwood is the first Love Island star to take part in the show (ITV)

The Love Island star, 31, is the first from the ITV reality dating show to enter the jungle after her debut in the enormously popular 2017 series.

Ahead of her first challenge, she said: “One of the things that will be nice will be to show a different side to me.

“I think people think I am high maintenance and I will struggle without make-up and nails but I am not that bothered and I think that might surprise people. I am happy to muck in.”

The reality star also said she is looking forward to a digital detox, after spending a ‘crazy amount of time’ on her phone most days.

She said: “My phone causes me stress. We are all prisoners to our phones and so it will be so nice to have this time in life where you are digitally disconnected for three weeks.

“It’s going to be great to be completely immersed in the jungle environment and I am excited to see what I can do.”

Scarlette Douglas

Scarlette Douglas is dreading the trials (ITV)

The 35-year-old star recently announced she was leaving A Place In The Sun after fronting the show for seven years.

She said: “I am dreading any trial involving spiders and I am also dreading the food trial. It’s going to be hard too not being able to bring my seasoning into camp but I want to prove to everyone I can smash it!”

I'm A Celebrity starts on Sunday night on ITV at 9pm
