I'm A Celeb's Matt Hancock says public will see him 'warts and all' in first look

Matt Hancock has officially been confirmed as a late arrival on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! 2022. The former health secretary made his first appearance alongside fellow late arrival Seann Walsh during the episode that aired on Tuesday, November 8.

At the end of the show, Ant and Dec formally introduced the "worst kept secret" on television as they confirmed the former Tory MP and comedian as wildcards in the form of a VT. Speaking in his, Matt said viewers would see him "warts and all".

Appearing in his jungle gear for the first time, Matt said: "This experience will be an adventure. When I'm in camp, people will just see the real me. Survival in the jungle is a good metaphor for the world I work in.

"People will see me warts and all. See the human side of the guy behind the podium.

He added: "I don't think I've got any fears or phobias, [but] I'm about to find out."

Meanwhile, Seann, who appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018, said: "Seems that every single person that does the jungle says it's the best experience of their life. So I'm up for that. I'm up for the best experience of my life. Who wouldn't be?

"Over the years, I've read a lot of things about myself, and it does hurt. And so, I'd love for it to be a kind of new start and just maybe change opinions. That'd be really nice."

It was then announced that the two late arrivals would be taking on the next Bushtucker Trial, airing on Wednesday, November 19. Ant and Dec explained: "There is no trial vote tonight because two top secret new arrivals are on their way and they are facing the trial."

Responding to the news, one viewer wrote: "The whole of the UK now that we know as soon as Matt Hancock lands in camp he’s going to have to face a trial."

While another added: "So @seannwalsh & @MattHancock are officially set to join the camp tomorrow night, but not before doing the next trial? Hopefully in Matt's case it's the hardest most disgusting one ever. Make him well & truly suffer guys please!!!"

Matt has been suspended from the Conservative Party following the news that he's joined the show. You can read more on this here.
