Carol Vorderman says it was happy I’m A Celebrity camp in South Africa - but she struggled to bond with “squawking” Janice Dickinson.
The US supermodel was seen clashing with actor Andy Whyment, who admitted he found her overpowering at times. And he was not the only one who struggled with Janice’s moods.
Carol said: “I got on well with everyone except for Janice. I didn’t like Janice. She would sit on a bed and just basically screech all day and I don’t like that.
“Everyone was very kind to her in the first few days and was like ‘Come on Janice tell us a story’. I couldn’t have been more encouraging but then she just started playing the reality TV game, which is not my scene at all. So she would just sit there and sound like a bloody seagull.
“She wasn’t doing her jobs either. She was just sitting in a bed and all of that build up over days and days.
“I thought, well, she’s gonna just sit there and get through to the final by doing nothing. You know, it just wasn’t right. So I did have a rant in the Bush Telegraph.”
Carol also revealed in scenes cut from the show how Janice forced tribe leaders Joe Swash and Dean Gaffney to rethink their plans for the first head-to-head survival trial which saw Whyment and Georgia Toffolo go home.
She explained: “Dean and Joe had to pick people for the trial and we kind of knew it would be a survival trial.
“I’d been saying, I thought it should be about the youngsters staying in, I said, ‘Well then us four oldies should go up against each other’. So it was like Janice, Paul, me, and Phil.
“It wasn’t totally agreed but it had been discussed. And then when we were sat there, Joe said ‘what about Janice?’ And she just screeched “I’m not f***ing doing it. I’m not f***ing doing it,” really aggressively. And we were all in a state of shock.
“So it changed to ‘I’ll have two of my best against two of his best’ and so Toff and Andy took part and they went out and I thought that was wrong and it was selfish.
“In the Bush Telegraph, I said something along the lines of, ‘We’ve had our lives, as oldies’ you know what I mean? I don’t mean we’re about to die, but we’ve had our chances and this is about whoever gets through, for some people it’s important to their young careers.”
Carol was full of praise for the rest of the campmates, and says they are all still in contact and chat on WhatsApp regularly since returning to the UK.
She already knew some stars like Myleene Klass and Jordan Banjo and has bonded with Corrie star Helen Flanagan.
Carol told the Mirror: “She’s wonderful Helen. I love her. Every single moment you see Helen on screen is exactly how she is. Kind, daft as a brush and lovable is how I would describe her.
“She is cheeky, mischievous and kind. If I lived up North, we’d be hanging out all the time. We text every day, but it’s just like, I love Helen, she is my little meerkat.
“I call her that because Fatima and I would always be up early in the morning. I would go out through the tunnel and drag my mat from my bed to about an hour of stretching, I’m trying to learn to do the splits. I need a new party trick! So I’m learning to do the splits out there.
“And Fatima’s doing weights you know, with stones and stuff. So we would always have that and then when the sun came up properly, we would go back in and do the cooking and whatever. And Helen’s bed was near the fire so it’s just this rustle of a sleeping bag and then his little head poking out and she would say ‘I love you’ and then snuggle back down again. That’s what she’s in my phone as - Helen Meerkat Angel.”
Unfortunately there was no big party afterwards for the contestants as they flew back soon after the Legend was crowned. Viewers will find out who wins the show on ITV on Friday, with four contestants remaining.
