I'm a Celeb Matt Hancock's girlfriend lands in Australia ahead of first elimination

I'm a Celebrity's Matt Hancock's partner and former aide Gina Coladangelo has landed in Australia.

She arrived just after Ofcom was hit with more than 1,000 complaints objecting to the former health secretary's participation on the show. Mr Hancock has already undergone five bushtucker trials in a row which Ms Coladangelo branded as "impressive"

Speaking to the Mirror, she said: "I have been watching the show, it would be difficult not to be impressed, he has done really well. He is made of tough stuff. But it is good they are sharing (trials) around now."

Her arrival comes just after a source said ITV bosses are preparing to bid farewell to Mr Hancock as soon as tomorrow. They said: "Things can change quickly in camp, especially if someone was to quit, but at the moment we look all set for evictions to begin from Friday.

"Currently Charlene, Scarlette and Matt are the favourites to go with bookmakers. If there is a second eviction over the weekend it means there would be two chances for viewers to get Hancock out this week."

In June last year, the MP resigned as health secretary after he was caught breaking coronavirus social distancing rules by having an affair in his ministerial office with Ms Coladangelo, who was his aide at the time.

While appearing on the reality show, he called his past behaviour a "mistake", saying that he "fell in love". He added that he was looking for "a bit of forgiveness".

On Wednesday Ofcom announced it had received 1,968 complaints about I'm a Celebrity, with around 1,100 people complaining about Mr Hancock being in the Australian jungle.
