I'm A Celeb fans suffer deja vu with Matt Hancock's Gina bridge embrace after CCTV clinch

I'm A Celebrity fans were left feeling a sense of deja vu on Sunday evening as Matt Hancock embraced girlfriend Gina Coladangelo following his exit from camp.

The disgraced MP quit his role as Health Secretary during Covid after he was caught breaking lockdown rules having an affair with his aide.

Images circulated of the pair affectionately embracing at the time, sharing a kiss while Hancock's hand was on his lover's rear. And as he exited the jungle in third place on the final night, he tightly hugged his partner - and cheekily seemed to place his hand in the same position as the pics which sealed his fate as Health Secretary.

He was filmed making his way up the famous red bridge, lit with sparklers and was clearly delighted as he saw Gina coming towards him. Hugging her tightly, he was seen whispering to her: "I love you so much."

Fans quickly flocked to social media to share their thoughts on the interaction. One fan, sharing a shot of the CCTV footage, joked on Twitter : "Right back where we started," while a follower replied: "Ha! I literally just made the same connection and twitter immediately told me that you got there 50 minutes before I did. Was so pleased with myself, too."

Another fans made a similar remark, with one writing: "Matt Hancock straight in for the bum grab again #imaceleb."

And another jokingly questioned: "@MattHancock is this your bum holding signature, sme on TV tonight [sic]."

Hancock surprised all during his time on I'm A Celebrity after initially being expected to be one of the first to leave. He was regularly voted by the public to take part in the Bushtucker trials, but seemed to win favour and outlasted all but two contestants.

Hollyoaks' Owen Warner was runner-up on the hit series, while Lionness Jill Scott won the hearts of the public to be named this year's Queen of the Jungle.

However, it was Hancock's appearance which caused the most controversy throughout the 22nd series of the show.

Speaking to Geordie presenters Ant & Dec following his exit, Hancock said: "I wanted to show what I was like as a person. Lots of people come to me with preconceived ideas, for obvious reasons.

"And I just wanted to be myself. But I also actually strongly believe that for politicians as a whole, we don't come across as human enough. And this is probably the most extreme way of just showing who you are, I am someone who throws himself into things.

"And we managed to talk about some important things here."
