I'm A Celeb fans plot to make Matt Hancock do most trials ever after shock signing

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! bosses might be thrilled after signing Matt Hancock – but he's set to face more scrutiny than ever before.

Hancock, 44, who found himself under fire after breaking lockdown rules and having an affair with an employee has become the 12th celebrity to sign up for the ITV series.

In true I'm A Celeb fashion, he will arrive as a latecomer alongside comedian and former Strictly Come Dancing star, Seann Walsh.

Since the news emerged that the Chester-born Conservative MP will be heading out to Australia for the show, he was immediately suspended from the Tory whip.

But that's not all he's got to worry about – fans of the classic ITV show have pledged to vote for Hancock to take part in more Bushtucker Trials than anybody else.

This could see the MP sharing a bed with rats, maggots, fish guts, and cockroaches and dining on the likes of kangaroo testicles, crocodile penis and fish eyes.

Bookies Betfair have released odds at 2/1 for Matt to do more trials than Naughty Boy who holds the record after squirming his way through the 2021 series.

Hancock is the 12th celebrity to join the ITV line-up (PA)

Sam Rosbottom, a spokesperson for Betfair said: "Matt Hancock will be returning as a regular face on our TV screens this year after sensationally joining this year's I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! cast.

"The former health secretary is 2/1 to surpass Naughty Boy's record of seven by doing the most bushtucker trials in history, while he is 4/1 to be the first departure from the jungle.

"Since joining I'm a Celeb, Hancock has been suspended as a Tory MP and he is 10/1 to resign from the position before the New Year. He is 16/1 to win the show, with England legend Jill Scott the 3/1 favourite."

Hancock has since been suspended by the Tory Whip (PA)

Speaking shortly after the news emerged that Hancock had joined the lineup, Tory chief whip Simon Hart said: "Following a conversation with Matt Hancock, I have considered the situation and believe this is a matter serious enough to warrant suspension of the whip with immediate effect."

Meanwhile, many people have spoken out about Matt's proposed salary for taking part in the show but a political ally of the disgraced MP said he'll be donating a part of it to charity.

The source said: "Matt will be making a donation to St Nicholas Hospice in Suffolk, and he will, of course, declare the amount he receives from the show to Parliament to ensure complete transparency, as normal."

I'm A Celebrity returns to ITV at 9pm on November 6.
