Alan Shearer has hailed Diogo Jota's "magnificent' ability to time runs into dangerous positions after another stellar showing for Liverpool from the Portuguese.
Jota opened the scoring for the Reds on Saturday with a trademark header, helping the team on their way to a 2-0 win over Watford and a 10th successive Premier League win. The result temporarily put Liverpool top of the table, before they were usurped by Manchester City later in the day.
Since signing for Liverpool from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer of 2020, Jota has been a major hit for the Reds. He is now arguably the first-choice option to start in the centre-forward position for Jurgen Klopp's side, with his slick movement, close control and relentless work rate making him ideal for the role.

Jota has added productivity to his game this season too, with his aerial ability giving the Reds a different edge in attack. Shearer, the Premier League's all-time record goalscorer, was full of praise for the 25-year-old in his analysis of the game on Match of the Day.
"He's a fantastic player," said Shearer. "The recruitment from Liverpool has been superb and his timing in the air is magnificent. He's brilliant in the air. I know he was £40 or £41 million. Superb player. All about timing."
Jota's header against Watford took him to 14 Premier League goals for the season, a total only bettered by team-mate Mohamed Salah.
With the likes of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Luis Diaz also competing for spots in the Reds' front line, the Portugal star will need to maintain these high standards to ensure he retains a place in the XI.
