‘I intend to be in this form when I’m 80’: Carol Vorderman ‘determined’ to say healthy ahead of 62nd birthday

Carol Vorderman has discussed her “determination” to remain fit and healthy ahead of her 62nd birthday in December.

The TV star, 61, took to Instagram on Sunday to introduce her new personal trainer Grant and gave her fans a glimpse of the new gym she signed up to near her home in Clifton, Bristol.

Captioning her video, she wrote: “’I’m DETERMINED to stay fit and active and healthy as hell as I’m knocking on 62 years old.

“Been a gym goer since they started opening for women in the mid 90s. Now with my busy life being everywhere.....London, Bristol, Cardiff, West Wales, Manchester, abroad.....I want someone who will tell me what to do and when, every day.”

While she is disciplined in her work outs, the former Countdown star said her busy schedule sometimes leaves her struggling to stick to a routine.

Adding: “I’m really good at taking instruction, very disciplined but if I have to make it up as I go along every day, then I only do half of the gym work.

“It’s just that emails and all sorts to do with my businesses start to kick in and work takes over the day. So Grant @g.p_fit_ and I started this new system this morning. He’s in charge.”

Vorderman also shared her hopes to keep her current gym form well into her eighties.

She continued: “First gentle session today, so he knows my form and so on. I like to have good form in the gym to get the best out of every set.

“I’ve never been able to do a handstand or a full press up so we’re working on upper body a lot for strength.

“I fully intend to be in this form when I’m knocking 80, and going to have a GREAT life between now and then full of laughing and mischief and adventures.”

Staying true to her word, the TV star then took to social media on Monday morning to document her new workout routine, which included kettlebells and squats.

Captioning the video, she penned: “Obviously taking squatting seriously, not smiling much….. it was a heavy 2 hour workout morning....slow and steady with this sesh....…. lols.

“All of these are free and well put together....gotta have a bit of dancing after tho... Happy days can cost NOTHING at all” (sic).

Complimenting her dedication, one follower commented: “Life def begins when you’re 50+ looking fab and enjoying the same journey”.

“You’re looking absolutely fantastic,” another remarked.

A third added: “You are looking amazing Carol”.
