![Naomi Klein speaks to Jewish protesters calling for the US to stop arming Israel at a demonstration in Brooklyn, New York, on 23 April.](https://media.guim.co.uk/298a330194b6ddbf801d96e4c2b122fe3f5eefcd/0_191_4096_2457/1000.jpg)
As an American Jew, I found Naomi Klein’s article deeply inspiring (We need an exodus from Zionism, 24 April). At a time when my faith feels mangled from the ongoing genocide that a nation is committing against an oppressed population, and my religion is levied as a weapon against my peace activism, Naomi reminds me that there is a path forward through Judaism. I hope conflicted Jews read her words and call for ceasefire and justice.

• In October 2023, Spain’s Pedro Sánchez and Scotland’s Humza Yousaf, who have both been under attack recently, were the only European leaders to unequivocally call for a Gaza ceasefire. Shame on the others, including Keir Starmer.

• Virginia Orrey (Letters, 29 April) intruded on my morning enjoying the sunshine and birdsong by awakening long-buried memories of pilchards in tomato sauce and the revolting smell of the washing-up water that followed eating them.

• It’s not just librarians who are stereotyped (Letters, 25 and 28 April). I was a museum curator, and in the mid-70s I had a lot of hair. One day I was called to deal with an inquiry to find some young people rolling about with laughter: “We thought you’d be a little old man with white hair.”
