Detectives are investigating an assault in Swinton in which a young man was taken to hospital - as neighbours reacted with horror.
A major police response was sparked at around 5.45pm on Saturday evening (17 June). Residents reported seeing multiple emergency services in the area.
Officers from GMP erected a large cordon, and an air ambulance was spotted landing nearby. Crime scene investigators and tactical aid unit officers were spotted assessing the scene.

Police have now confirmed that a 27-year-old man was taken to hospital after they were called to reports of an assault. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
The M.E.N received numerous reports that a person had been stabbed. This has not been confirmed by Greater Manchester Police.
No further details about the incident have been released at this stage. Detectives have launched an investigation and enquiries are said to be ongoing. No arrests have been made.
One resident said she'd heard reports of a stabbing at the end of the road. "It’s terrifying as I have a little girl - you just don’t expect this on your doorstep," she said.
Another resident said she heard that somebody had been stabbed. She said: "My partner called me and said somebody had been stabbed. There was an air ambulance at the end of the road. It’s really scary."
In a statement, GMP said: "Police were called to reports of an assault at an address on Long Street in Swinton yesterday (Saturday 17 June 2023) at 5.07pm.
"A 27-year-old man suffered injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening and was taken to hospital for treatment. Officers are currently investigating the circumstances and enquiries are ongoing."
