'I had the perfect name for my baby girl - but she ruined it by coming early'

Many expectant parents decide on the name for their little one well before they arrive. It takes careful consideration as it has to be something you both like.

But when you're a parent, you quickly find out that not everything can go as planned, and sometimes you just have to go with the flow.

One mum called Tiffany took inspiration from her daughter's due date when it came to a middle name for her daughter. Because her due date was May 17, they decided her middle name would be May. However – they didn't expect her to arrive early.

Explaining the story behind her daughter's name in a video on TikTok, Tiffany shared a picture of her daughter Eleanor and wrote: "When. your baby's middle name is May because she was due May 17 but she arrives on the last day of April."

Despite the name not being entirely appropriate anymore, she decided she wasn't going to let the baby's early arrival ruin the name they had planned for her.

She added: "We didn't change it either," because it "didn't flow".

The video was seen by more than 916k on the video sharing app, and many commented that they had a similar situation with their own names, or their children's monikers.

One person said: "No worries lol. My middle name is June and I was born in May. It happens."

Another commented: "We named my daughter's middle name May as well because due date was May 5! Born April 30, 2017."

A third said: "My daughter was due in May bur born in June, so spelt her name Mae."

Someone else suggested that they could have named her "April May" instead, adding a crying-while-laughing emoji.

Choosing a baby's name can be tricky, and can sometimes lead to regret. One mum admitted she wishes she'd picked a different name for her daughter.

She had named her Jane after her late grandmother, but two years later she wished she had picked another moniker.

Another woman claims she's considering changing her son's name because no one gets the pronunciation right, and she's sick of people using a nickname she doesn't like.

Her son is called Danyal, an Arabic name of Turkish origin which means 'God is my judge', but people have been using the nickname Danny.
