I've been looking for the best massage venue in Liverpool for months, and never thought I'd find one among some office buildings opposite James Street station.
A massage is something that always helps with my general mental wellbeing, and although they can be pricey at times, I try to treat myself with a pamper session whenever I can to truly unwind. After stumbling across Atlântida Therapies on Google, I was intrigued by the sterling reviews and knew I had to take a trip there.
Atlântida Therapies is nestled opposite James Street station in Liverpool city centre in the 'Regus' building of Merchants Court. Regus provides serviced offices and one of those rooms is home to Kelly, founder of Atlântida Therapies and massage guru.

Kelly was born in Portugal and dropped everything to move here three years ago. Speaking about her journey, she said: "My intuition guided me to physical wellness therapies - it was something I fell in love with."
As well as massages, she offers a number of different treatments including reiki, shamanic candles and work with crystals. She continued: "Something that's important to me is that I see a positive impact in people. I will always want to know how a client feels, what is the purpose for their visit and I give them all the attention they deserve."
She describes herself as an 'ear for those who need to talk to' and that was something I noticed as soon as I entered the building. I knew as soon as I left the office block opposite the station that I would be returning on a regular basis.
My experience
In all honesty, I was a little nervous for my massage at first. I was unsure how it would all work because Kelly was based in an office block, but as soon as I entered her space, I was blown away.
Her room was nothing short of magical. It had an ambience not even words can describe, with relaxing water features, Himalayan salt lamps, crystals, soothing music and a generally relaxing healing vibe.
Massages for me, have always been quite impersonal in the past. It was often a case of turning up, telling the masseuse your problem areas and getting the job done in half an hour.
Kelly was different, it felt like a therapy session and a massage all in one - it felt like she actually cared. She sat me down on a chair upon entry and offered me a cool cup of water before asking me what brought me here.
I explained my stresses and strains and she listened intently and offered advice. After a lovely heartfelt chat, I felt like I'd known Kelly for years, which really helped me feel a lot more comfortable when it came to the massage.
I lay on the comfy bed and Kelly began to give me my massage with nothing but soothing music and the sound of water trickling in the distance. I felt so totally and utterly relaxed that I almost fell asleep.
During the massage, I could tell with each individual movement that Kelly really took care in her massaging technique. I think the initial chat before the massage really put me at ease.
With massages in the past, I've often struggled to switch off and fully enjoy the experience. Kelly made sure I took some deep breaths before the treatment so I was fully relaxed and less tense.
After my full body massage, I felt like I was walking on air. Not only did I feel better in my body, but in my mind too. A lot of reviews for Atlântida Therapies talk about how you feel like a new person after a visit, and I can fully vouch for that. I felt light, relieved and relaxed all in one.
The Verdict
Atlântida Therapies provided me with by far the best massage I've ever had. It was more than just a massage, it was meaningful and heartfelt, and that's what made it feel so special.
Don't let the offices unnerve you or confuse you, because this spot is truly a hidden gem that's bound to transform your mindset in as little as an hour. I absolutely loved the décor in Kelly's space and I'm already ready to book my third treatment with her. You can find Atlântida Therapies for bookings on Instagram here.
