‘I guarantee you’ - Jamie Carragher opens up on Richarlison clash and makes Everton prediction

Jamie Carragher has opened up on the ongoing mini-row he has had with former Everton striker Richarlison.

The ex-Liverpool man got on the wrong side of the feisty Brazilian last season when accusing him of diving while live on Sky Sports during April’s Merseyside Derby defeat at Anfield - something that caught the attention of Richarlison and compelled him to bite back.

The 25-year-old tweeted Carragher after Everton’s dramatic 3-2 win against Crystal Palace secured their Premier League status in May, telling the pundit to wash his mouth out and adding that ‘I don’t respect you’ - and the ex-Reds defender admitted that his respect grew after the reply, but that he still ‘can’t stand’ his apparent theatrics.

“He’s gone for me a couple of times and I think a lot more of him now when he came back at me a couple of times,” Carragher told JOE . “I think he’s a good player, but I can’t stand it, there’s a difference between diving and feigning injury.

“It’s the going down when he’s not hurt, if you go down to try to get a free-kick and don’t get it, get up and get on with the game. He’s holding somewhere he’s not been hit and I’d had enough of it.

"I guarantee you Everton fans when they play Tottenham this season will be saying the same if Richarlison carries on with that.”

Richarlison left Goodison Park and arrived at Tottenham for £50million plus add-ons this summer, ending a four-season spell on Merseyside in which the striker scored 53 goals in 152 games. He was a standout performer in last season’s relegation run-in, scoring six goals in his last 10 games to drag the Blues away from the bottom three.

Frank Lampard’s Toffees travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in October, before a potential Goodison Park return for Richarlison in April.
