'I got £360 knocked off my Sky bill in 10 minutes'

A savvy shopper has revealed how he got £360 off his Sky bill in just 10 minutes.

MoneySavingExpert found that haggling works for two-thirds of those who tried it and one Sky customer had a great success story. Dennis' Sky contract expired and he was going to be charged £109.50 per month upon renewal.

Concerned about the cost, Dennis contacted Sky and haggled his price down. Dennis told MoneySavingExpert : "My Sky contract had expired and gone up to £109.50/month, so I phoned up to challenge the increase.

"Now my bill is £79.50/month for the next 18 months. Absolutely worth doing as the call was answered quickly and it was all sorted within 10 minutes.

"Thanks MSE for reminding me to haggle." Gary Caffell, utilities editor at MoneySavingExpert, said: "While loyalty generally doesn't pay, this year's poll shows once again customers can make it work for their pocket if they're willing to give haggling a go.

"It never hurts to try. It's positive to see the big names topping the poll once more, but it's also encouraging to see consumers from a wide variety of firms across all sectors having success.

"So, if you're out of contract, the power is in your hands to ask for a better deal. Benchmark prices elsewhere first, then be polite and with a bit of charm, there's a good chance you'll bag a decent discount."
