'I genuinely believe' - Andy Cole makes bold Sadio Mane claim following Liverpool exit

Former Manchester United forward Andy Cole has insisted Sadio Mane's presence will be missed following his departure from Merseyside this summer.

Mane, 30, joined German giants Bayern Munich on a three-year-deal and got off to the perfect start this weekend, as Julian Nagelsmann's side beat Eintracht Frankfurt by 6-1.

With Darwin Nunez however opening his account for the Reds, the Uruguayan will be expected to hit the ground running, with Cole however insisting Mane's departure will be largely felt.

"They've spent a lot of money on Nunez," Cole said on The DAZN Soccer Show. "I genuinely do believe Liverpool will miss Mané.

''I think he's been absolutely phenomenal. They're missing what he gives them so [Nunez] has got to come and try and replace that."

Comparisions have also been drawn up between Nunez and Manchester City new boy Erling Haaland, who also opened his account against West Ham with a brace on Sunday.

Cole added that the Norweigan could face trouble despite his antics at the London Stadium.

"One is replacing someone who has been absolutely phenomenal. And the other one's coming into the team whereby they never had a No. 9 before and ultimately they're going to have to start focusing around him, so that that could throw them off a little bit."
