A gorgeous evening picnic is my idea of paradise, and I'm always looking for new spots to visit on the Wirral.
I always thought that my favourite spot for a picnic was Thurstaston Beach, but I think I've found another contender for a stunning beauty spot. Red Rocks Beach in Hoylake is somewhere I've never been before, and as soon as I got there, I couldn't believe how quiet and peaceful it was.
Described as 'part of a nature reserve' the beach consists of sand dunes, reedbeds and marsh. The beach is located around a five minute walk away from the popular West Kirby beach, which is another great spot I like to visit for a cute summer walk.

As soon as I got to the beach I felt instantly calm and relaxed, and it was so quiet that all I could hear was the gentle lapping of the water. Located where the River Dee and the Irish Sea meets, Red Rocks beach offers something different.
I sat down on the rocks with my picnic basket and looked over at the beautiful view opposite. I could see Hilbre Island and the golden sun slowly setting, and ended up feeling truly amazed by my surroundings.
I feel so lucky to live on the Wirral, because you can visit rustic woodland one minute and be on a golden sandy beach the next. At Red Rocks Beach, the sand was golden and thick and the horizon felt like a million miles away from anything, even though it wasn't.
The one thing that stood out to me the most, though, was how utterly peaceful the beach was. It seemed like everyone was there for the same season, to relax and unwind - and that felt really special.
If you want the perfect picnic spot where you're destined to have gorgeous views and no sand in your sandwiches, sit on the rocks at Red Rocks Beach and soak up your surroundings, you won't regret it.
To access Red Rocks Beach, you can park along Stanley Road.
